We are excited to announce that IBTrACS is moving to version 4 and the BETA release for it is ready for public testing.

In BETA release, the data are provisionally provided at a temporary location (until it becomes operational).

There are some big improvements and changes with version 4. Please read that information here:

Technical documentation
Also, we are preparing some technical documentation for IBTrACS v04 to help you better understand the data. It is available at:

Formats
The data are now provided in only 3 formats. The status of each format is:
- CSV  - available  - complete.
- netCDF - available - though, we will be including more global attributes over the next month to provide more complete metadata.
- shapefiles - available - though metadata is not complete (users can use the CSV documentation until this is complete)

Users experiencing problems with the link above should use a command line or GUI FTP client to access:
Server:              filsrv.cicsnc.org
Subdirectory:    ibtracs/BETA_access/provisional/

Other Notes
As we complete our testing, there may be some changes in the data, so be aware. The best way to keep informed about IBTrACS is to subscribe to this forum so you will receive updates about the data.
