IBTrACS v04 release is available

Great news!

The IBTrACS v04 work is complete, data are archived and now available for use.

The data is available at the IBTrACS website, which has links to access the latest data.

Notes

• Weekly updates!
• The IBTrACS v04 will now be updated weekly using the operational information on active systems.
• Operational data will be replaced when the reanalysis data forthe basin is complete.
• Data from the beta release (hotel1) is now obsolete. Hotel1 data should be deleted in favor for the v04 release. There were several corrections in v04 that make it improved from the last 'hotel1' update. Improvements include:
• A bug that caused too many spurs to be produced for hotel1.
• A bug that caused some data from 2018 to be dropped from hotel1 processing
• A bug that missed some wind speed data for variable USA_WIND.
• IBTrACS browse updates
• The IBTrACS browse maps are updated weekly, providing access to recent storms.
• The IBTrACS browse page also provides daily updates on historical systems.
• IBTrACS storm lists include sorting by ATCF ID.
• Please read the technical documentation. It provides a thorough and easy to use understanding for many aspects of the data.
