You may recall that I had mentioned about learning SAS in the class. I am elaborating on the idea below:
1. The SAS Group will be a forum of interested students facilitated by me.
2. While the classroom lessons in SAS will be restricted to SAS Enterprise Guide (Menu Driven) focussing more on the application concepts of the QM-2 syllabus, there are many more aspects that one can learn about SAS, Base SAS & their applications in industry / Market Research organizations. With focused effort and some help, these can be self taught under a broad guidance.
3. With global economy still not looking bright with similar effects on Indian economy (and given that 2014 is an election year in India), the job market scenario does appear to be bright. Given this, it may be a good strategy for students to add to their skills, SAS Certification being one for those looking up for Analyst career in Market Research and other organization dealing with data mining, big data etc. (Find more on these through Google search. While the general low job scenario is down, opportunities in this area are considered promising.).Students interested in other fields may explore upgrading their skills in respective areas by looking for appropriate Certification programs with market value in their respective fields.
4. The bright side is that all Semester 2 students have about 9 to 10 months before you will start appearing for placement interviews. I urge interested students to pursue the area of your interest and upgrade the skills in this period so that you can show this additional qualification also in your CV at the time of your placement interviews.
5. Coming to the proposed SAS Group, it is suggested only for those who feel comfortable with Quants and Software handling and looking forward to Market Research / Data Mining / Big Data handling type of career.
6. I am willing to facilitate this SAS Group so that you have SAS Certficate before you are ready for placement interviews from August 2014.
INTERESTED STUDENTS MAY MEET ME ON MONDAY / TUESDAY BETWEEN 4 & 6 PM for more clarity.
