Informix is Going Back to Wild West

The International Informix Users Group (IIUG) will host their yearly conference in San Diego, the birthplace of California. The premier event for Informix fanatics will take place from April 22nd to 25th 2012 at the San Diego Mission Valley Marriott. More details can be found at http://www.iiug.org/conf.

IBM Informix is a leading database technology that was born in the 1980's and is the first cloud-ready database that implements new technologies to serve businesses' needs. You may not know Informix is everywhere but it is. An example of the widespread deployment of IBM Informix is every time you use your credit card more than likely an Informix database is involved.

IIUG 2012 will be the 5th IIUG Informix conference with a technical and business focus on IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), 4GL, Genero, Informix Warehouse Accelerator (IWA), Informix TimeSeries and other products, technologies and methodologies. "During the previous 4 conferences we have hosted attendees from all over the world" proudly proclaims Cindy Lichtenauer, head of the conference planning committee (CPC).

The IIUG is also proud to announce our new conference home in San Diego, CA. California is a more convenient location for international attendees and "is in the same region as a good portion of our membership that resides in Southern California and is close to the birthplace of Informix" according to Stuart Litel, IIUG President.

The conference runs 4 Technical Tracks as well as two new tracks: a Business Track targeted towards managers and decision makers as well as a Solution Track that illustrates new solutions and uses of Informix. The conference will also feature keynote speeches from IBM Executives and industry leaders like last year's featured keynote speaker David Ferucci, IBM Watson's Principal Investigator.

Andrew Ford, active member of the CPC, emphasizes "the Business Track will bring new non-technical content to a historically technical conference that will appeal to non Database Administrators and Developers, but of course the DBA and Developer content will still be there". New content like "How Social Media is Affecting the (IT) Organization" or "What are the Consequences of PCI on an IT Organization" will appeal to business owners, project managers, architects.

Long time sponsors like IBM, AGS (Server Studio), Four J's Development Tools, Querix have already committed to support this exciting new location.
