It is likely that you don't have a 16550 compatible serial port... How old
is your motherboard?

I think it is something else. I know I have a 16550 serial port, and I
get the same message.
Sure would be nice if we could communicate with the developer and ask
him directly what it means. <g>

The connect is at 115200 and is verified at logon, so obviously it dont

I think that the message might be about the 230k connect mode as opposed
to 115k.

Just click on the "Services" button in the Dialer window, select
"Update Software" and "Download Software Updates" and you will be
taken there automatically. After the download you can elect to
have the dialer updated automatically also.

Don't forget to try InJoy.. It is definitely faster than the competition
and
it supports a good deal of nice features (http://www.fx.dk/injoy).
InJoy can easily be used with Advantis, and you can see how at:
http://www.fx.dk/injoy/advantis.html
I (the developer - b...@fx.dk), the support center and the InJoy mailing
list is
always there for support!

What is probably true is that the server is giving you problems, rather
than the dialer software. Of course for some of us, the other big reason
for using ibm.net as an IP is that you can call them up to complain at any
hour, and they will "usually" be able to enlighten you about things on
the net. They run an excellent service. I cannot even begin to compare
the quality of the connections that I consistently get --- most of the
time. But they are not perfect. Give them a call. --

The password problem is a result of changes in the dialer. It
doesn't save the password for when you redial )unless you have checked
the box to always save the password). This is consistent with the way
that the Win95 dialer behaves. Personally, I like having the dialer
save the password as long as it was open, as the old did.
As far as the userid problem, I don't know. I haven't had this
problem.

It is the must irritating thing about the new dialer for me. I have to
redial the same number many times because after the handshake between
the two modems nothing happens. So, I make the modem hang up then dial
again. After 5-10 times re-entering the password you start to say
things-not-so-nice. Saving the password is not an option I can take
advantage of.

Amen. And that damn "Please enter a valid password" pop-up is
equally annoying. Anybody know a way of turning it off?
-John (John.T...@ibm.net)
You really should try using the best dialer available, InJoy.
