I followed up on this thread, spending 40 minutes on hold various
times and was finally told that http://mypage.ihost.com is NOT for
'REGULAR' Ibm.net users..it is for people perked at trade shows,
business's comped by IBM etc..I asked about the promised web space
accessed via ftp and was told Probably never..and if it should happen
they will charge for it. I'm very happy with IBM.net but find their
lack of web page support for the lowly monthly user a slap in the
face.
Looks like the "lowly monthly users" are gonna have to unite and force
a resolution to this lack of basic internet support!!

David,
As an alternative there are several dozen companies that offer free
webpages on the net. The most notable one is http://www.geocities.com
They offer up to 2 MEGS of free disk space to anyone.

Think of it as a temporary solution. Why wait to put up an awesome
webpage, it might take years for IBM to give in to your demands.

I look forward to the day when I can have an ibm webpage as well (for
free hopefully)

I believe exite and four11 is also offering free webpages from what I
have heard from my friends. don't quote me on that one.

HAPPY IBM CUSTOMER!!! :=)

If you're looking for a place to keep your web pages then you might
want to look into Whole Earth Networks (Hooked Net) http://www.wenet.net
It's where I keep my pages.

For $10 a month you get 20mb of web storage and 33mb per day of
bandwidth.
You also get 1 email address, telnet shell and 5 modem hours. You get
unlimited telnet & ftp access from an outside account.

David,
If you really visited Geocities you would have know that they DO NOT
ask you to use their webpage creator. If so it is only for the
*NOVICE* that doesn't knows anything about advance html like cgi,
vbscript, and java script, hot java and forms.
Everyone that I know uses Java Scripts and Applets, forms, and Frames.
Does your present webpage support ActiveX and push. Mine does and it
is located at http://www.geocities.com I seriously doubt that would
constitutes as a ready made clone
You are free to use whatever html software you want.
you want to ftp they can do that too
their ftp site is ftp.geocities.com
you enter your username and password you are automatically log on
to your directory. (CuteFtp is a must easy to use)

Next time go to the site before you make your statements.
