I found that dBase V for Windows when run on its own in an
OS/2 window under Warp 3 Connect (with FP26 and computer
is a 486DX66 with 40MB RAM) produces instabilities. Subsequent
practice of running it under Program Manager under full screen
mode avoids these instabilities. The instability appears more
related to trying to run a Win 3.1 program under an OS/2 window
rather than it is dBase V or some other particular program.
Although I haven't had time to exhaustively test this instability,
it seems particularly noticeable with running OS/2 Netscape Ver 2.02E.
This then causes some adverse interaction with Stardock's FileBar
Pro and possibly also with Siegfried Hanisch's Screen Saver
(both part of Stardock's OS/2 Essentials). What happens is that
when you close down Netscape or a Netscape window, it leaves
a "ghost" process stuck in the FileBar's Task list. The process
does not appear in the standard OS/2 task list window (brought
up by pressing Ctrl Esc). Associated with this is that, as days
progress, there occurs a gradual falling over of the system -
the computer will sooner or later randomly hang-up.
The hang-up is such that WatchCat cannot regain control (I don't
have the latest version which I'm told may help).
Since adopting the practice of running dBase under full screen
Program Manager, the system has been rock steady for weeks now.
Note: Program Manager must be set to run in full screen mode.
When set to run in an OS/2 Window, FileBar Pro would soon crash
repeatedly when you click on its Task List making it unusable until
Program Manager is shutdown.
This is not the end of the world except for the disappointment that
OS/2's "seamless" usage of Win 3.1 programs is effectively not
available for me.
Please reply by EMail as well as posting.

I seem to recall that the latest release of Netscape/2 included a
defective SEAMLESS.DLL file that causes problems on many systems.
If you can restore the original SEAMLESS.DLL your problems should
be better.
