What are you using as the user registry? Member manager database? Custom user registry?

Are you using the WP admin user for anything else on your system (such as your WAS serverID user)?

When you clicked "Continue", did you encounter an error at that time, or did the password change initially appear successful?

Did you only use supported characters in your password when you changed it?

Hi Brett,

I am working with neeraj on this issue. I am just replying on his behalf.
Here area the answers to your questions. We are having a default installation of portal. We haven't changed anything so according to us we are using default member manager database as user registry. We are not using wpsadmin user for anything else other than just the portal administrator. When we modified the wpsadmin user profile through edit profile link after clicking "Continue" we didn't received any error on the page. We haven't used any unsupported characters in our password.

Hope to here from you soon.

Do you use the same user ID for your WAS console login? Check /wmm/wmmWASAdmin.xml. It's recommended to use encrypted password in that file, but plaintext should work.

Hi,

I got the same problem(with Portal 6.1)when i changed the password, but i could solve it by running "Changing the LDAP bind password" (eventhough i changed portal password i updated the same in few places and run ./ConfigEngine.sh wp-update-standalone-ldap -DWasPassword=password) part of this link.
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wpdoc/v6r1m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.wp.ent.doc/security/sec_pswds.html

Mainly i figured out that LDAP update did not happen when i changed the password.
So in my case i updated the LDAP (bcz there is no WMM in 6.1).

Hope this one helps.

thanks,
Sampath
