hello
I am using WPS 5.0 and trying to configure it wih Active Directory Server (ADS). While trying to configure we followed as per the guidelines and the process completed successfully.

But when we try to login using "wpsadmin", it doesn't authenticate, and shows back the login screen without any error. Interestingly when we try to login using a non-existing ADS user it does give error saying user does not exist.
Which means it does recognize the existing users, but not able to login them.

Has anyone faced a similar problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Make sure you are using the fully qualified domain name to login.
This is because you are not in the correct domain.

Use: http://myportal.work.com/wps/portal not
http://myportap/wps/portal/

Yeep,

I had a similar problem when i tried to install WPS 5.0 with a
SSO domain with less that 2 levels. Try ( if you didn't try it )
to specify a SSO domain as:

.foo.bar

Never use domains as:

.foo

Bye !!

For ADS, you need to set up a BIND user ID which must be a valid ADS user.
If you want to set up portal to allow self registration, SSL between WSAS
and ADS server is required.

Hi,

I came across the same problem where i was able to start and stop the servers using the AD accounts, but was unable to log into the portal. to resolve this problem the portal path need to be the fully qualified domain name:
Eg: http://portalserver.domain.com:9081/wps/portal

Give that a try and you should be fine. If it still doesn’t work try putting *.domain.com in the proxy exception list.

Good luck

I made some changes to wpconfig.properties and ran again. I am now able to login into the portal using "wpsadmin" userid.
But when I go to Users and Groups in Administration tab and look for Users/Groups it does not return any users/groups that exist in Active Directory Server.
I manually inserted users/groups in ADS, because I understand the self registration does not work with ADS in non-ssl mode.
I am able to login with the users that I manually created in ADS, but I am not able to retrieve them in Portal Administration - Access - Users and Groups.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, I'm facing the same problem too. Able to log in but going cannot
find any users or groups. The following error message occurs in my wps
log whenever i try to access users and groups:

com.ibm.websphere.wmm.exception.WMMApplicationException: The argument
"cn=wpcpusers,o=default organization" specified is invalid.

Anyone encounter the same thing?

Anyone tried wps 5.0.2 yet? It seems to have a few new entries inn
wpconfig.properties e.g. LDAPUserFilter, LDAPGroupFilter

Wondering if it might help...

First of all, my Portal server and ADS are in different domains. So I modified the wpconfig.properties for SSOdomain as my Portal domain and not the ADS domain. After doing this I was able to login using "wpsadmin".

But in administration could not retrieve the users or groups. To solve this problem I had to manually delete some old entries in USER_DESC table of WPS50 Dtabase.
I saw there where some old entries still in this table like the uid=user,o=organization along with new ADS entries like cn=username,cn=user,dc=domain,dc=com. I manually deleted old entries.
Also for WPCP created WPCPUser group and distribution group , in that there are groups like, CC,CP,DE,PL and WPCPAdmin. created users in each group and saw that WPCP workflow also worked as expected.

Hope this helps all who have ADS issues.
Thanks
