Hi,

Further to my previous thread on installing a local copy of Portal Server, I got some new installation disks from a colleague who had used them to successfully install Portal on his laptop.

I ran them last night and while I did get past the stage that was erroring, I got another error on the final step of the Portal install. This error was:

"EJPIC0228E: The setup-bpe task failed".

In the wpinstalllog.txt file, the following is present at the end of the log:

The Portal installation program is exiting.
(Oct 8, 2009 8:23:18 AM), MultiPlatform.install, com.ibm.wps.install.SwingPopUp, msg2, Exiting installer.

The ConfigTrace.txt file then has the following error at the end of the file:

BUILD FAILED
file:../config/actions/was_cfg.xml:2827: Java returned: 105

The strange thing is it looks like Portal Server has been successfully installed. I can successfully start the server and hit the http://localhost:10038/wps/portal URL successfully (albeit it runs very slowly but that is down to the spec of the machine I've installed it on).

So, what does this error mean? Will this installation of Portal Server not work correctly because of the error? I've attached wpsintalllog to this post.

Cheers.

Looking at the errors, it looks like Portal server is installed but Process Server is not installed. You should be able to work with Portal server fine.

The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the positions, strategies, or opinions of IBM

Generally this exception:

Return Code: can't read "AdminTask": no such variable
(Oct 7, 2009 6:49:11 PM), MultiPlatform.install, com.ibm.wps.install.ExternalCommandAction$OutputWatcher, msg2, StdOut: wsadmin WASX7017E: Exception received while running file "C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\PortalServer/config/was/wp_ScaConfig.jacl"; exception information: com.ibm.bsf.BSFException: error while eval'ing Jacl expression:

(Oct 7, 2009 6:49:11 PM), MultiPlatform.install, com.ibm.wps.install.ExternalCommandAction$OutputWatcher, msg2, StdOut: *wsadmin can't read "AdminTask": no such variable*

means that server1 is not started (or dmgr is not started if you're in a cluster). The "AdminTask" variable comes from the WAS service.

Also, in addition to what the previous poster said, you should only be running "setup-bpe" if you have installed Process Server in addition to Portal. For Portal v6.0, this was optional during the Portal installation.

So, assuming you do have Process Server installed, make sure server1 (or again, dmgr if clustered) is running, then run that script again.
