Hi guys...

I have a big problem here...

We are trying to install the HTTP sever for a OS/390, and we are facing
a lot more problems than we can ever realize...

According to IBM's manual (and IBM's personnel), if we use the
proceedings of the manual strictly, it will be configured... but there is
some issues:

1) In step 8 , it's expected to use the ONSLOOKUP function to validate
the server and the address, but when running, I receive this message:

Can't find server name for address <number of address>: No
response from server
Default servers are not available

where <numer of address> are all the IP's configured in
SYS1.TCPPARMS(TCPDATA) NSINTERADDR clause. So, I tried to start the DNS
according to the Instructions in OS390 eNetwork CS IP Configuration, chapter
20. But, when starting the NAMED proc on console, it returned a JCL ERROR,
even after all the files (named.rev, named.lbk, named.for and named.boot)
were configured.

2) If we overtake the ONSLOOKUP step and try to run the IMWEBSRV proc to
start the webserver
anyway, and the JCL aborted because the file referenced in the STEPLIB
clause hasn't been found in any datasets... So, it is returning a "Device
Allocation Error"...

So, my doubts are:

1) Until it is operational, it is vaporware for me... Is it REALLY
working anywhere?
2) What are the REAL steps to install it... Because the manual steps are
proven that they not work.
3) Is there anyone out there that can help me?

Best Regards...

Jose Armando

I talked with a member of our WebSphere for OS/390 service
team. He says that your problem may be that you have a STEPLIB for the
SIMWMOD1 dataset. This STEPLIB should be removed from the PROC. He
referenced DOC APAR PQ26976.

The following information also appears in the WebSphere for OS/390
Troubleshooter on the Web, under Hints and Tips --> Installation --> Web
server:

Beginning in V5.1, the IBM HTTP Server for OS/390 program (IMWHTTPD) is
not installed in IMW.SIMWMOD1; it is installed in SYS1.LINKLIB.
Therefore, the IMW.SIMWMOD1 load library should be removed from your
LNKLST concatenation and also from the STEPLIB in your start
procedures.

You can access the Troubleshooter at URL:
http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/httpservers/troubleshooter.html.

Hope this helps.
