I installed WebSphere Adv Ed v5 on a Linux server. The install seemed to go
fine and the snoop servlet works. But the wsadmin.sh file is not in
/opt/WebSphere/Appserver/bin. Nor is it in any directory off of
/opt/WebSphere.

Is there something I did not install? Why is the wsadmin.sh file not there?
What am I missing here? Do I have to re-install?

Thanks......Paul

The v5 product installation uses wsadmin to deploy the sample apps and other
code, so it is odd that the script isn't there after installation. If it
were not available, I would expect to see product install failures. How
about some of the other tools that should be in the /bin directory for v5
(and not v4)? Are startNode.sh, serverStatus.sh, addNode.sh in the /bin
directory?

Side note: The CD image file I used was named: c45d9ml.tar which is
WAS_AEv5 for linux.

The startNode.sh and serverStatus.sh are not in
/opt/WebSphere/Appserver/bin

Here are the files I see in /opt/WebSphere/Appserver/bin:

This is not a 5.0 install. It appears to be 4.0 based upon the files such
as wscp and XMLConfig.

The tar file name is right for WAS 5 for Linux (I would like one day they
would use some more meaningful names). Have you looked for the files in
other directories? I haven't tried Linux yet but in Windows the default
installation directory has now changed from \Websphere\AppServer to \Program
Files\WebSphere\AppServer, for instance.

Have you looked under /usr/WebSphere/AppServer?
I believe that the default install root for v5 is under /usr instead of
/opt.

I un-instaled and re-installed WebSphere and now the wsadmin file is there,
go-figure! Not sure what was different about the re-install as it seemed to
go the same as the initial install.

BTW, on linux the default install root is still /opt/WebSphere for
WebSphere 5

Thanks.........Paul
