How to Set and Change Fanuc OT 900 Parameters
Fanuc OT is a series of CNC controllers that are widely used in the machining industry. Fanuc OT controllers have various parameters that can be set and changed to customize the machine's operation and performance. Some of these parameters are hidden by default and require a special procedure to access them. These are called 900 parameters and they enable some advanced features and options for the Fanuc OT controller.

In this article, we will explain what Fanuc OT 900 parameters are, how to access them, how to change them, and what some of the most common and useful 900 parameters are. We will also provide some links to online resources where you can find more information and manuals for Fanuc OT controllers.
What are Fanuc OT 900 Parameters?
Fanuc OT 900 parameters are a set of system variables that control some aspects of the Fanuc OT controller's functionality. They are not normally visible or editable by the user, unless a special password is entered or a specific switch is turned on. Fanuc OT 900 parameters can be used to enable or disable some features, such as displaying the clock, cycle time, and parts count on the screen, setting the spindle orientation, enabling canned cycles, and more.
Fanuc OT 900 parameters are numbered from 900 to 999 and each parameter has eight bits that can be set to either 0 or 1. Each bit corresponds to a different option or function. For example, parameter 940 controls the display options for the Fanuc OT controller. The first bit (bit 0) of parameter 940 determines whether the clock is displayed or not. If bit 0 is set to 1, the clock is displayed; if bit 0 is set to 0, the clock is not displayed.
How to Access Fanuc OT 900 Parameters?
To access Fanuc OT 900 parameters, you need to either enter a password or turn on a switch on the machine. The password method is more common and safer, as it does not require opening the machine's cabinet or modifying its hardware. The password method works as follows:
Turn on the machine and enter EDIT mode.
Press SYSTEM key twice to enter DGNOS (diagnostics) screen.
Press INPUT key.
Type in "9000" followed by a four-digit password. The default password is "0000" but it may have been changed by the machine manufacturer or user.
Press INPUT key again.
If the password is correct, you will see "PWE=1" on the bottom right corner of the screen. This means that you can now access and edit Fanuc OT 900 parameters.
If the password is incorrect, you will see "PWE=0" on the bottom right corner of the screen. This means that you cannot access or edit Fanuc OT 900 parameters.
The switch method is less common and more risky, as it involves opening the machine's cabinet and turning on a switch that may affect other settings or functions of the machine. The switch method works as follows:
Turn off the machine and disconnect it from the power source.
Open the machine's cabinet and locate the main circuit board (MCB).
Find a switch labeled "PWE" on the MCB and turn it on.
Close the machine's cabinet and reconnect it to the power source.
Turn on the machine and enter EDIT mode.
You will see "PWE=1" on the bottom right corner of the screen. This means that you can now access and edit Fanuc OT 900 parameters.
How to Change Fanuc OT 900 Parameters?
To change Fanuc OT 900 parameters, you need to first access them using either the password method or the switch method described above. Once you have accessed Fanuc OT 900 parameters, you can change them as follows:
Press SYSTEM key twice to enter DGNOS (diagnostics) screen.
