Is it feasible to teach reading to your child at home? Are you interested in learning how to instruct a child in reading? I'll be sharing with you my own experience of using this program to teach my toddler son to read at home since he was two years and three months old in my Children Learning Reading review.
It takes a while to read. Therefore, if you don't have time to read any farther, you might want to take a look at the program specifics directly below. (If you'd like to have a look, I've also included three video clips of my child using this application to read at different ages. Scroll down to the bottom!)

For whom is it intended? Youngsters Acquiring Reading Skills
The target audience for this event is parents of young children, ages 2 to 8.
This is NOT a program where parents can simply place the child in front of the computer screen or insert a DVD into the player.
By following a straightforward, efficient, and methodical program, parents can play a proactive role in assisting their child or preschooler in learning to read phonetically. It is time well spent. Really? However, please be aware that there are no actual goods being mailed to you; this is a digital bundle. After you make a purchase, everything is downloaded to your computer.
What's That? Youngsters Acquiring Reading Skills
A distinct and methodical reading curriculum that teaches phonemic awareness and phonics to young children as young as 2 or 3 years old will teach them to read.
Jim Yang, the program's designer, used it to teach his four children to read before they were three.
Studies have demonstrated that phonemic awareness is very useful in assisting young toddlers in manipulating phonemes, or discrete sounds, to decode printed text and sound out words. Additionally, research has demonstrated that teaching reading through the phonics method results in more proficient and successful readers.
Jim advises parents to begin their child's reading program at the age of 2.5, since that is when the child can speak with greater clarity. You can start your child early if your younger toddler is developing their speech more advanced.
For the classes, you won't be placing your child in front of a computer or TV. Instead, you and your child will be spending valuable time together as you work through the curriculum step-by-step.

Simple to understand, with each step clearly explained in the lectures.
An opportunity to master phonics as well. The teachings were beneficial to me as well, as I never learnt phonics as a child.
audio snippets that show each letter sound pronounced correctly. Being unschooled in phonics, I definitely needed this.
The courses are brief in order to accommodate parents' hectic schedules and young children's limited attention spans.
really successful, and seeing your child's reading development after each session will be really satisfying. For me, it's undoubtedly a fulfilling experience.
You can print, cut, and utilize printouts in your lessons with your child. Even after the class is complete, my kid will beg to play with the printouts since he loves them so much.
Compared to the more renowned and multi-award winning newborn reading programs, this one is less expensive.
The program is available for download, allowing you to start using it right away. There are no tangible goods that need to be delivered to you. Reduce the cost of shipping.
Cons: Reading Instruction for Children
You must set aside time each day to support your child's education. Parental involvement on a regular basis and consistency are essential to your child's successful reading development.
I periodically ran across some terms in the latter classes that, when I sounded them out, didn't seem quite right. I'm not trained in phonics training, as I have stated. These could be sight words.
Is the Baby Reading Program Effective? Not for Us.
I spent a lot of money (around $170 after discounts) on an expensive newborn reading curriculum that promised to teach my 7-month-old kid to read. After all, it was an award-winning program, so I was convinced.
When he was approximately nine months old, I began the reading lessons with him. I simply decided to quit the lessons one day after several weeks of seating my infant in front of the computer screen every day. There were no signs that my infant was picking up reading.
I'm curious about the effectiveness of teaching a child to read through the continuous flashing of words and pictures. However, it was such a simple solutionβall I had to do was place my toddler on my lap and follow the computer screen's daily instruction. I didn't have to put in much work at all.
At first, I reasoned that my son might not be ready and that I would give the program another go at a later age. Rather, as time passed, my youngster grew into a toddler and was obviously not reading anything at all.
The Phonics Method or the Whole Word Method? The latter.
I stumbled found the Children Learning Reading program when my son was approximately 17 months old.
After attentively reading their webpage, I realized how crucial it is to select the appropriate reading technique. For me, it's an insightful read. I mean, back then, I had no idea how important it was to select the appropriate reading strategy.
Considering that the baby reading program taught kids to read using the entire word method, which requires kids to "memorize" hundreds or thousands of word shapes, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that my son didn't learn to read! I would suggest that this is not a very sound or efficient way to read.
I would much rather that he learn to read by using phonemic awareness and phonics lessons to decode words and sound them out. which, as I've now discovered, would result in readers who are more proficient in spelling and reading. This is the teaching approach that the Children Learning Reading program use.
Being aware of this increased my faith in the software.

Not Talking At All? Gain a phonemic awareness.
However, my young kid hardly spoke at all.
Jim honestly responded to my email asking whether it was okay to start my kid on his reading program, even though he might be too young to do so. It was still not too early to assist him develop his phonemic awareness skills.
Jim mentioned that his own son made remarkable progress in his reading lessons and that he began to learn phonemic awareness at the age of 1.5. By the time the boy turned 2.5, he had acquired great phonemic awareness skills.
After receiving the package, I followed Jim's suggestions and focused on using play to help my son improve his phonemic awareness. There was very little informal learning that didn't center on play. My son, meanwhile, carried on developing, playing, and discovering his surroundings.
Kaden could pronounce the majority of his letter sounds, knew his alphabet, and could speak a few sentences by the time he reached two years and two months old. I also observed that he was an extremely motivated student. I was looking for anything to pique his interest and keep him busy. I picked up Kaden's lessons and recalled Jim's reading program.
Is There Any Work for This Program? You Assured! Youngsters Acquiring Reading Skills
Observing how happily my little son absorbed his teachings was a fulfilling experience! He would play with the printouts until the thick paper cutouts became quite worn and crumpled since he loved the early lessons and the printouts. Lessons lasted an average of fewer than seven minutes.
His reading progress proceeded very well because, at the beginning of the program, he already knew the names and sounds of his letters.
His mama, or me, would occasionally put off his education in favor of other pursuits and days when life simply got in the way. Typically, participants finish the first half of the program in three months or twelve weeks. Ours was finished in 4.5 months.
However, Kaden continued to learn to read despite everything! It is amazing to observe how quickly a small child progresses from sounding out individual words to brief sentences like these:

Can Young Children Learn to Read Quickly and Easily? Yes.
Perhaps I never had phonics instruction in school or from a trainer. I was the one who occasionally thought it odd when I sounded out things to my child. My son could name most of the words I was sounding out to him, even though I felt like a robot sounding out phrases that seem very unintelligible to me. Fantastic.
I could tell he was making amazing progress when we got to the later portion of the reading program because I would play little games with him. My kid would respond with the letter B and its sound whenever I would say a random word, like "Button, the word button starts with the letter..." That seemed to me to be the start of a little speller. I was thrilled and pleasantly surprised!
I was persuaded that the Children Learning Reading program was an excellent reading program by another factor.
Kaden just pulled out one of the multiple reader books that his elder cousins had given him, when he was roughly two years and nine months old. It was a selection from the children's book series "Keywords with Peter and Jane."
He asked me to read book 1A after taking it. I thought it would be a good idea to help him exercise his newly acquired reading ability, so I asked him to read instead. When he read book 1A completely on his own without my help, I was shocked!
I never would have imagined months ago that my child would be reading me a short book. However, he did. And sure enough, the magic persisted when I opened book 2A.
Would I Suggest This Course? Extremely! Youngsters Acquiring Reading Skills
I have to admit that working with Kaden on the Children Learning Reading program was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I felt like I was doing something right when I was able to assist my son in learning to read and saw his growth and transformation in such a short amount of time.
It opens one's eyes to the learning potential of a young child and gives parents a sense of empowerment.
Now, my son has completed 75% of the classes.

"Mommy, do lesson 11!" he would yell as he ran after me to get his lessons. Do lesson 12! he would say if I agreed. I would also advise them to practice lesson 11 further. We will work on lesson 12 once you have mastered lesson 11.
I have printed up his lessons and put them in a folder, so he likes to peak at them to see what's coming up. It matters that he finds learning enjoyable and that he appreciates his lessons.
Stop if this is the first time you've read about teaching a toddler to read or if you've been debating whether to invest in those pricey baby reading programs. I strongly advise you to look into Jim Yang's Children Learning Reading program, which is available for download. His program is fantastic, and you'll see results right away!
A video of 3-year-old Kaden reading can be found below. He was reading two of Joy Cowley's extremely short stories from her book The Apple. It is less than two minutes long.
