Hi

Customer wants to know, if the complete directory contents is checked
regarding potential inconsistency when a schema change is done. What I
mean is not that new entries which are created afterwards, are checked
against the new schema, but that all of the existent data is checked
before a schema change is accepted. (like for the unique attributes
setting, where there is an error message when you try to make an
attribute unique if it already exists in more than one entry).

The server tries to detect any schema change which would make existing
entries non-compliant with the proposed schema. I don't have an
exhaustive list of the checks, but there is some discussion of this here:

under the topic "Disallowed schema changes"
