HDD upgrade for TP 600X

IBM support tells me that the largest HDD supported on the 600X is
18GB. I see numerous drives that are over 18GB that are sold to be
used on the 600X (20GB and 30GB). I'm looking for a HDD
recommendation that will work on my 600X. I see some drives that
include caddies and others do not. Do I require a caddy? What is a
caddy?

The 600X will accept any 12.5MM drive up to 48GB capacity. I've got a
32GB in mine now, soon to be upgraded.

It's a holder for the HD. You can re-use the caddy from your old
drive, but it's better to have a new one in order to use both your old
and new HDs or to put your old HD is an Ultraslimbay second HD

I had no problems upgrading a 600x to the Travelstar 20GN 20GB drive *but* I
did ensure bios was updated first. You need a bootable cd/disk during the
upgrade.
