"I have a Modern Magic Appearing Cane. The maintenance instructions
state, "at home always in long position. Use only "Ballistol" or
"parafine oil".
My understanding of the above quote is 1) at home keep the cane open in
the open position (not close position) 2) I had difficulty locating the
"Ballistol" or "parafine oil" at Michael's and Lowe.
Am I correct in keeping the cane open and two, where can I purchase the
"Ballistol" or "parafine oil" or is there another product which I can
use. Three, is the lubricant place on the plastic or spring mechanism?
Guidance, suggestions and recommendations welcome!

"If the manufacturer mentions parffin, that is what I suggest you use.
You should be able to find it fairly inexpensively in any place that
has 'crafty' stuff. It is one of the things that they sell to fuel the
little table 'floating' lamp/lights/scent thingies. Be sure to get
pure, unscented oil though. If you cannot find anyplace locally, google
on 'paraffin' and/or 'parafin' will get you a bunch of shops selling
the stuff.
