ACE 7.4 DL Scanning for age verification

Anyone have any input on using 7.4 to scan DL for age restriction DOB? I'm using NCR 7878 scanner/scales with the 7878KIT150 2D imager add on. The PDF417 scans but the data must not be parsed as "expected" for my ace settings.

My understanding is the PDF-417 support, once it’s turned on in the Label format file (Operating system) still has to have custom code written to read and interpret it.

Haven’t tried in V7R4 yet though…

Have you changed the settings under Personalization, Options, Barcode, PDF417 to match what your scanner is sending?  Based on what I see, you will also need a scanner capable of taking various states ID's and formating them in a way the application will understand, as it doesn't look like multiple state logic was implemented in ACE.  (That is if you want to support multiple states)  I don't know if the 7878 will do this, like some of the scanners with the ID parsing software built in.

I guess that's the major unknown is the scanner setup. I don't know what the 7878 is capable of with the 2D add on. I do know that the add on equipment is a Honeywell piece (N5600) that is capable of parsing but you must use their EasyDL software to "define" the output of the DOB data. I don't know if NCR, since they have branded the Honeywell piece NCR, has implemented the EasyDL software as part of the 7878 firmware. Any clues?

NCR has only branded the (Honeywell 3800g and 4600g) Hand held models and that was a few years ago, the Scale/Scanners do not have the capabilities of using the Easy DL scanning utilities.
