I have a store that has MX pin pads. We have been having some
communications errors that seem to result in double charges. They are
running the pin pads with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no parity at
19200 baud. Most stores run with 7 data bits, 1 stop bit and even
parity at 9600 baud. Can this difference in personalization be causing
my problem?

We use 19200,7E1, seems to work fine.

To clarify, they are running the 19200,8N1 scheme. I am wondering if I
change it to 9600, 7E1 or 19200, 7E1 if my communications errors will go
away

Peace!
Ben

We are using Even - 7 - 1, 19200, but we also had to make a change to reset the pin pad at the beginning and end of each transaction.

We had this turned on for awhile, but found after the first item was
scanned there was a delay before you could scan the second item. This
was on older equipment, so the delay might be gone with newer
equipment, just something to be aware of if you do turn this on.

In my experience if you don't reset the pin pad at the end and beginning of the sale then some old guy will swipe his card by mistake after the sale is over and if the next sale is credit then his card gets charged for the next guys groceries.

Yes we found that issue on the older pinpads and older terminals, have not experienced this with the MX870 pinpads and newer terminals, we have 4800-722 terminals now.
