Has anyone installed the new 723 or 743 units? Did you run into any
problems? These new units are giving me fits. Units will lock up
when you try and sign on, units will not load unless the cash drawer
attached, units will not laod if the pin pad device is not attached.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

I am at the latest and greatest bios, and still same response. I am
beginning to dislike these terminals....

1. Are you using Touch or Keyboard? <answered, I see now, sorry>
2. If you disable your pin-pad does the terminal load
3. How are your periph. connected legacy or USB
4. What is the uCode of the printer?
5. What level/build of ACE and OS?
6. If you connect an older terminal (721 or 722) do you get the same
problems on this load?

If no cash drawer locks up the terminal, I would check your Java
Redirect and see if what you have selected is what you are supposed to
have selected.

If you "lock up" at sign on, that would mean the terminal is trying to
init the pinpad. If you let it sit for awhile does the terminal "move
on"? Are there any system messages? Does the PIN PAD reload on when
the terminal comes up the ist time? If the terminal does "lock up",
when the terminal reboots are you in "Terminal Secured" meaning you
signed on or back to **CLOSED**?

One last thing to try is:
Make a new Device group with no JAVA redirection and no java class
running.
Change your app to ACETSFSL.386 (The text full screen version)
Reload-
Does the system work with this program?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

We need to narrow down which portion of the system is the problem-
The LOAD itself
JAVA
Peripherals
Configuration

1. Are you using Touch or Keyboard? <answered, I see now, sorry>

No. With or without, no load.

3. How are your periph. connected legacy or USB

USB devices

4. What is the uCode of the printer?

MC=47 on T4

5. What level/build of ACE and OS?

Ace = 6.2 U56 / OS = V5R2 / SIGUI = 4062

6. If you connect an older terminal (721 or 722) do you get the same
problems on this load?

No. I can load a 721 just fine. I have a 721, 723, and 743 all line up and
they all ace differently with the same load.

I got a fix for this last week. There is an APAR for it. Where did you get
0811? I would like to see if the fix I was working on last week is in
there.

I thought I would provide a link for the JAR file that fixed this
problem. Download comm4690.jar, put into the c:\JAVA directory and
run ADXPLDRB. Reboot terminals and all should be well.

Thank you Jason for looking out for all of us! You are a great citizen
in this community and just a good guy.

However, I would caution the group not to pass around files like this
among users. Each one of you should get the maintenance level that is
appropriate for your systems. This sort of activity often results in
unstable systems that cannot be effectively supported by IBM RSS and
could likely result in longer problem resolution times.

The folks at IBM RSS are good citizens in our community, as well. We
need to make sure we do what we can to help them help us.

Ben

Peace!
