■ シンポジウムの概要
画像の認識・理解シンポジウム（MIRU）は，
画像の認識と理解技術に関する国内最大規模の会議です．
大学/産業を問わず，研究者，技術者，そして次世代を担う学生の
議論・交流の場であり，基礎から応用まで最新の研究発表と討論の場です．
今年で27回目の開催を迎えるMIRU2024は，熊本城ホールでの開催となります．

◎ 開催・発表形態：
開催はオンサイト（現地）主体となります．
すべての発表はオンサイト（現地）でご発表いただきます．
口頭発表や特別講演，チュートリアルなど，メインホールで開催される
一部のセッションはオンライン聴講いただける予定です．

◎ 口頭発表論文・一般論文・デモ発表：
600件を超える研究発表が行われる予定です．
口頭発表論文を含むすべての発表はインタラクティブセッション（ポスター発表）を行い，
参加者と発表者の間で密なディスカッションを行っていただきます．

◎ 招待講演：
難関国際会議（トップカンファレンス）に採択された論文の著者を招待して，
その内容と，厳しい競争と査読に耐えうる研究・論文に仕上げる過程を
多くの聴衆と共有していただきます．
今年は初日8月6日（火）にスケジュールされています．お見逃しなく！

◎ ワークライフバランス企画：
「だれもが自分らしい道を進めるように」をテーマに，
多数のパネリストをお迎えしてパネルディスカッションを行います．
妊娠・出産・育児とご自身のキャリアについてお悩みや疑問のある方，
周囲の人がまさに妊娠・出産・育児中である方等，どなたでも奮ってご参加ください．

- The symposium takes place as an on-site event. The main hall sessions only will be streamed online.
- The early bird registration pricing is available until July 8th, noon. The period is short so please register in time.
- This year, the symposium begins in the morning of August 6th (Meaning, the opening and invited talks will be on the "tutorial day"!)

■ This year's MIRU
The Meeting on Image Recognition and Understanding (MIRU) is the largest Japanese annual symposium on image recognition and understanding. Unrelated of whether you are at a university, private company, or just interested in top-notch research of this field; this is the place for meeting, collaborating, and socializing with researchers and professionals.
The 27th annual symposium, MIRU2024, will take place at Kumamoto-jo Hall.
- Event
This year's MIRU takes place on-site. All presentations will be done in-person.
The oral presentations, keynotes, tutorials and some other sessions taking place in the main hall only will be available through online streaming.

This year, there will be over 600 presentations across various oral and interactive sessions.
All oral presentations will also have a poster, in order to foster more detailed discussions during the interactive sessions.
- Invited Talks
Authors which presented their research at top-conferences in our field were invited to present their experiences at MIRU 2024. On top of the actual research, they discuss their experiences in the writing and reviewing processes for other participants to learn from. This year, the invited talk session takes place on the first day, August 6th.
- Work-Life Balance Project
With the theme "So that everyone can follow their own path", we invite various panelists to have a fruitful panel discussion.
We discuss worries on how topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, and child care can fit into one's career. Everybody within or close to such life-steps are welcome to participate this organized event.
It takes place during lunch time. Separate registration is needed!

- International Lunch
The international lunch targets international connection through maintaining and fostering links across international researchers and students, studying and working in Japan.
We have a panel discussion with various international researchers who are long-time working in Japan, giving advice to young foreign researchers. Any MIRU participants, unrelated of their origin or nationality, are welcome.
This organized event will take place in English. It takes place during lunch time. Separate registration is needed!
