Dear Ibex Family,
The civil adm function was followed by a another org by the Fire and Fury Corps
wherein they dedicated a Monument to Ladakh Scouts.
Certain highlights of the fauji function held on 21 Jun 2013:-
· A monument
comprising an IBEX perched on top of a rock was constr by the Engrs here
and
the same was dedicated to Ladakh Scouts by the GOC.
· All the four walls of the monument have been enfaced with tributes to the Nunnus and our Regt.
· The loc is
the centre of the chowk adjacent to gate of the General Hospital (GH),
basically at the
crossroad of the Zorawar Fort and GH. It has since been
renamed as the IBEX CHOWK.
· An elegant
function, attended by all the Fauji hierarchy, reps from the stn, Ex Servicemen
and Nunnus from all Bns.
· In an
emotional address to troops, the GOC proudly declared them as the best troops
he ever
came across and had the honour to command. Apart from the glorious past
he also made
noteworthy references to the present contributions and the
significance we old pivotal
to any future challenges.
· The Ibex has been made by us and is a 400 kg single piece carved masterpiece quiet unique as it is the only one of its kind. We were able to motivate the craftsmen of Turtuk who have thus far only carved small rocks to make their unique stone ash trays or small pressure cookers and miniature Ibex’s. This monument has already caught the fancy of tourists who are busy getting themselves clicked next to it all times of the day!
· Please do find enclosed select photos of this function as well as the Monument itself.
Regards and Julley
