Hello all,

The old Ibex Farm and new Ibex Farm will shut down on Sept 30 2021.

It has unfortunately become financially unsustainable for me to continue maintaining these sites. I have explored various ways of funding further maintenance and development of the Ibex Farm, but nothing has panned out.

Please ensure that you back up any data by this date.

I will shortly be adding a link to this announcement on the front page of both sites.

Alex

Alex,
I'm sincerely sorry to hear this, and completely understand the difficulties of making the farm sustainable. Your setup has made so much work possible, and Jeremy and I are especially thankful for being able to build on your open access setup in building PCIbex.

Ibex farm users are welcome to migrate to the PCIbex farm maintained at Penn by Jeremy Zehr at: https://farm.pcibex.net/

You can easily migrate projects by dragging the zip-file downloaded from Alex's farm into the resource area of a new project on the PCIbex farm (see some more details in original farm announcement here).

For questions and inquiries, contact sup...@pcibex.net.

While we are currently fortunate to have institutional support for PCIbex hosting, through generous support by MindCORE - Penn’s hub for the integrative study of the mind, this unfortunate news from Alex does highlight that it costs money to maintain platforms such as these. If you wind up becoming a regular user, please consider making a donation to ensure long-term sustainability of our setup, specifying ‘PCIbex’ under ‘special reason’ to designate the funds to support PCIbex hosting.

Alex - thank you so much for all your help over the past five years. You have been instrumental in my education as a psycholinguistic researcher, and I could not have pulled off as many experiments as I did without your help.

Florian, thank you for mentioning how to move the ZIP from Ibex Farm to PC Ibex - I just tried it, and it is very easy to implement! I'm sad to see Ibex Farm go, but I'm happy PC Ibex is there - looking forward to learning more!

Best,
Jack

Hi Alex,

Please let us know how we can help with the situation. Ibex Farm is beautiful and easy to use. We don't want to see it being shut. I would definitely pay/make a donation for using it.

Best wishes,
Jeremy

Hi Alex,

I echo Jeremy's words and I would be happy to make a donation if you think it useful. Ibex Farm has been soooooo helpful to me, both as a PhD student and then as a teacher. I have seen the strong impact it has on my students, many of which learned coding thanks to Ibex. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Dear Alex, many thanks for all your efforts. Ibex Farm helped me a lot in managing large-scaled practice research projects (i.e., many students) and enabled me to combine teaching and research efficiently (and effectively!).
All the best, Arnout Koornneef
