Iberia Airlines Cancellation Policy| +61 (1800) 407 707
Iberia Airlines offers passengers the ability to cancel tickets, subject to certain restrictions and fees depending on the fare class purchased. This cancellation policy applies to tickets booked directly with Iberia Airlines for travel on Iberia or other partner airline flights.
When Can Tickets Be Cancelled?
Tickets can be cancelled up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time, for both refundable and non-refundable fares. Cancellations within 2 hours of departure are not allowed. The cancellation can be processed via Iberia's website, mobile app, or through their call center. For refundable fares, a full refund will be issued to the original form of payment. For non-refundable tickets, a travel voucher valid for 1 year from date of issue will be provided instead of a refund.
Cancellation Fees
Cancellation fees apply based on the fare class purchased:
- Basic & Classic Economy: 60 EUR fee per passenger
- Flexible Economy: No fee for first cancellation, 60 EUR for subsequent cancellations
- Business Plus: 120 EUR fee per passenger
- Business Club: 250 EUR fee per passenger
The cancellation fee is charged per passenger and per one-way flight. Bookings with multiple passengers would incur fees for each traveler. Changes to inbound or outbound portions of a roundtrip booking are considered separate one-way flights.
Name changes on tickets prior to travel are allowed for a fee of 60 EUR for Economy fares and 120 EUR for Business fares. This allows reissuing the ticket in someone else's name instead of fully cancelling it.
Refunds and Vouchers
For eligible refundable tickets, the refund will be processed to the original form of payment used to purchase the tickets. Refunds are not provided in cash. Refunds can take up to 7 days to process after the cancellation request.
Non-refundable cancelled tickets will be exchanged for an electronic travel voucher valid for 1 year from date of issue. The voucher is emailed to the passenger and can be redeemed for future travel on Iberia or partner airlines. Vouchers are non-transferable to other travelers. If the new booking value exceeds the voucher amount, the difference must be paid by the customer.
Partially Used Tickets
For tickets that have already been partially used, such as on an outbound portion of a roundtrip booking, the unused coupon(s) can be cancelled for a travel voucher. No refunds are provided for partially flown itineraries. Cancellation fees may still apply.
Award Tickets
Tickets booked with Iberia Avios points can be fully cancelled without fees. The Avios points will be redeposited to the customer's Avios account. Any taxes paid are refunded to original form of payment.
Restrictions
There are some other restrictions around Iberia's cancellation policy:
- Basic Economy fares are non-refundable and non-changeable.
- Ticket is non-transferable to other travelers after cancellation.
- Combination fares and other airlines' tickets may have different policies.
- Travel insurance is recommended for maximum protection.
- Iberia reserves right to modify cancellation rules at any time.
Steps to Cancel a Ticket
To cancel a ticket with Iberia Airlines, customers can:
1. Log into their reservation on Iberia's website using booking reference and last name.
2. Select "Cancel Flight" option. Choose flights to cancel.
3. Confirm reason for cancellation. Review cancellation policies and fees.
4. Enter contact information for refund/voucher processing.
5. Receive confirmation email once cancellation is processed.
6. Call center support can also assist with cancellations and refund requests.
7. Cancellations are not possible directly at the airport. Must be done in advance online/phone.
Customers should carefully review Iberia's fare rules before booking to understand change and cancellation policies. Passengers need to cancel tickets in advance and be aware of cancellation fees to avoid losing the full value of the booking. Flexible and refundable fares provide the most options for making changes without penalty. Iberia's voucher policy allows reuse of non-refundable tickets value toward future bookings. In all cases, cancellations must be made at least 2 hours before departure for any refund or voucher eligibility.
