I understand that some people have had issues with this mod manager trying to mod their Skyrim. However, I have not faced any issue that wasn't resolved by following installation instructions for each mod, and sometimes Vortex solves the issue for me. Only problem I've noticed is that Vortex "advertises" modding capabilities for other games such as Stardew Valley and Cyberpunk 2077 but they don't seem to work ever. What are some of the issues you all have had with Vortex that you know is Vortex's issue? I'm curious because I do run into quite a few problems but want to know if Vortex is to blame or not.
I am worried about something though because in most of the mods I am installing with the Vortex manager it is as simple as download install and enable and in 90% ofthe mods descriptions there are this very complicated indications about how to install mods and only a couple ones mention using Mod Manager (not even Vortex).
The install went smoothly and I followed the instructions to deactivate the internet, boot vortex, disable auto updates and close out. The installer said it was finished so I closed out, turned my internet back on then tried to boot vortex. It went from launching, to stop, then back to play.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing vortex which led to the same result.
Vortex had already launched so I know it knew where the file was and had to have been set up properly in some fashion.
Hello. I was downloading some mods the other day, finished, and played my game with no issues with the mods. Vortex was then closed. I noticed since then, my laptop's fans were constantly running loudly when they normally wouldn't. I checked my task manager to find that Vortex, despite being closed, is currently using between 17% and 19.8% CPU, and the power usage is listed as Very high. My next highest tasks are only using like 0.7% CPU at the moment. Vortex version 1.5.11. Screenshot of task manager is attached. Vortex is CLOSED and not in use. Not in the task bar at all. Why is this happening?
I don't know how to fix it. I have reinstalled vortex a couple times relaunched dozens installed every version of visual c++ I can think of and I don't have any antivirus managing vortex folders. I've checked through the windows defender twice to make sure and I followed the guide posted to make sure that what I was doing was correct. I have no clue what to do at this point. It was working now it is not and I have not a clue why
I have the same problem. I reinstalled, I tried older versions that kept updating to the latest whenever I closed vortex, without my consent. It's annoying and wont let me mod any game through vortex as the error pops up every time. Maybe the latest update broke it? If you find a fix please let me know.
I haven't used vortex before. Last time I used mods I was using the Nexus Mod Manager. I'm a bit confused on some elements of what vortex is doing and also with general mod install instructions. I should also say that my OS is on one drive and my games are installed on a separate drive. When installing Vortex I pointed to the Starfield folder in my Steam folder on my game drive. Normally games have their files in the game directory and then you have like the config.ini files, save files etc..in the OS "my games" directory. What I noticed is that it appears Vortex has it's own "my games" directory now in my games folder and then another one in the Vortex directory? Is that correct? I'm so confused by this and it appears to not be working properly.
When I first installed via Vortex I tested with the mod Cleanfield which removes some of the initial splash screens. This was an easy mod to test with since it happens immediately. If I just installed with Vortex it didn't work. If I added the StarfieldCustom.ini file mentioned in the mod install instructions into my Windows > Documents > My Games > Starfield directory it started working. However, I seem to have that same StarfieldCustom.ini file in my steam game folder and also in the vortex directory. Which of these 3 copies of the file is the one that is being used? Even though that mod was working I had another that didn't seem to be working so I tried removing the one from the OS directory to see if that would work and now it doesn't work at all even if I put the file back.
Also, if you install a mod using vortex but the mod info page says you need to edit the .ini file is Vortex supposed to be doing that or do you still have to do this manually? The instructions/readme never seem to make that distinction. These questions are sort of related I guess depending on the answers.
it seems that vortex isnt putting any files into Documents/ My Games/Starfield/Data , in symlink or hardlink deployment. (havent tried Move deployment yet) but rather the game install dir/data instead. only when i copy the mod files over to the Documents/ My Games/Starfield/Data does the mod(s) work. from testing it seems having the mod files in the install directory doesnt do anything.?
There's no errors so nothing to investigate but it just doesn't work. I've tried resetting vortex, swithing from single user to shared, uninstalling a few times, unmanaging and re-managing the game a few times, deleting mods and re-installing, selectively trying to deploy them (to rule out a mod issue causing it) and nothing shows any errors but as I mentioned, nothing is working either.
I'm wondering if I missed something about the ini file. I haven't been editing ini files or moving / copying the file to other locations as I presumed that is what the mod manager does???? Is that wrong and do we all need to do that to set up mods to work in general, or every time a new mod is installed or..?
I use vortex mod manger for modding skyrim, witcher 3 etc NOT WARFRAME I DO NOT MODIFY WARFRAME IN ANY WAY OR PARTAKE IN CHEATING OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD BREACH END USER LICENCE AGREEMENT (I seriously just wanted to put this here to make sure moderation know I don't cheat and to be extra careful) and was wondering if it is safe to have it running at the same time as warframe? Sometimes I am downloading a large file and it takes a bit and I always avoid playing warframe while vortex is running incase warframe thinks I am cheating and bans me. Really warframe is my fav game and I put a lot of time into it so I wanna be extra careful. Anyone have any experiences with having both programs at the same time and know if it is safe?
Vortex is not like cheat engine, it's just a download manager to keep mods updated from Nexus mods. It doesn't modify anything for itself. It just like having a torrent downloading, your browser downloading or any other download manager active.
Our mod manager, Vortex, gives users the option to send diagnostics and usage data to our team in order to help us improve our users' modding experience. Data is only collected and sent with the express permission of each user, and not before they have clicked to allow this data to be collected and submitted.
This year, IRISS is sponsoring Team VORTEX. The project manager of the team is Bill Chabot, and his fellow group members are listed below in The VORTEX Bunch.
Bill explains that the versatility of UAS in today's research groups is becoming a large necessity. As researchers strive to get the bleeding edge of data collection, it requires new and innovative ways to do so. Traditionally, UAS fell into one of two categories (fixed wing or multirotor), however being able to utilize the best aspects of each can lead to far improved methods of scientific data collection. This is what the VORTEX senior project team is trying to accomplish, by adapting the Drak fixed-wing commercial aircraft to have Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capabilities.
In order to design the aircraft, the team had to understand and characterize the aerodynamics. Once the aerodynamic properties were better understood, the propulsion team could begin determining the necessary batteries, motors, and propellers. This was accomplished by using manufacturer specs and experimental data to create a full propulsion system model using MATLAB, allowing the team to choose between numerous combinations of components and compare their performance. The structures team was then able to design mounting solutions for the additional motors to be attached and properly account for the added forces. Many of the additional components to be manufactured will be 3D printed. The team will also be testing the material properties of the aircraft's components to validate their simulations and models. In order for the aircraft to fly properly, the team will implement an autonomous avionics and control system. The team will then utilize an avionics package provided by IRISS that will be tweaked slightly to meet the needs of their mission. The goal of the avionics team is to properly simulate and model control of the aircraft, to a fairly detailed level with a quality understanding of the system. Up to this point, the team has gone through several rounds of design review presentations with the Professional Advisory Board (PAB), and returned with great feedback. The next step for the team is to order the hardware and materials to begin manufacturing and testing.
Next semester will consist of testing the control system, propulsion system and structure, in order to compare to the model developed earlier. This will follow with fabrication and assembly of the aircraft. The goal is to have two functional aircraft to deliver to IRISS by the end of the semester and evaluate the results and performance.
