Hi,

means that either the IP address is wrong, or the iPhone is not
switched on.

The WLAN will be switched off after a few seconds when the iPhone goes
to sleep. So for the backup you really have to switch it on and keep
it on for the time of the backup.
For the first (or full) backup, you should set "Auto Off" to "never".
Otherwise two minutes should be enough.

Cheers,
Kerry.

I don't think it's this situation : l'ipod touch works correctly on
wifi, I can install applications on it (via "installer".)
The address is indicated on "informations" on the machine....
The backup doesn't begin...
Thanks

What do you mean with "informations"??
The IP address is only shown, under "Settings / General / Wifi
Networks " and then hit the blue arrow next to your network name.
Should be 192.168.xx.xx

Right?

can you ping the iPhone? Open "Terminal" and enter "ping
192.168.x.x" (whatever the ip is) and see what's the response. Because
that's what the program is nagging about...

No, Terminal on the MAC (or "Run -> cmd" in windows)

It's seeming so...!

the response in terminal is : 56 data bytes

You mean "56 data bytes" is the ONLY answer and nothing like:

64 bytes from 192.168.xx: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=2.232 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.xx: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=2.208 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.xx: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=2.575 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.xx: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=2.174 ms

?

If you don't get those lines every second until you cancel (or 3 times
in windows), then there's NO ANSWER and most probably the wrong IP
address.

That's the problem!

No problem....

I'm sure you can connect via Wifi and that you HAVE an IP.
But it seems you try to connect to the wrong IP...

OK : I go and see the IP ... which is recognized (I wasn't on the same
wifi on the mac and the touch)
The terminal sets RSA com; but I'm stopped by the question of the root
password of the touch...
What is it ? -i don't choose a password and don't know the root
password...

It's forwht I come again with this question...

Thanks
