I have been watching with a beady eye as they are starting to cut the tracks and routes out under the highway alongside Main. Anyone know when this is opening and what the tracks will be in there?

Hi Paul
I believe this is the info you are looking for:
G'Day Anel,
There sure is a lot of interest about the new Toyota MTN Cycle Park. I am getting 20 phone calls a day asking how its going. Check out the pics of "work in progress" , and there will be loads more in the next day or so (I lost a whole bunch trying to load them this morning).
Kindest Regards

Last time I spoke to Geoff they were aiming for the 3rd week of October.
This is taken from one of his newsletters a little while ago:
The flat area that you see on the corner of Sloane and Main is the car park. The Clubhouse and coffee shop will be at the south end of this with an area of lawn with braais and bomas, for parties or just chilling, surrounding.
There will be a step down of 3 meters then to a grandstand structure to overlook the Pump Track (Dirt Jumps for the uninitiated). Another step down of 5 meters will see a UCI World Cup BMX Track with Grandstands on either side. This will be the fastest BMX Track in South Africa, with a 7.5 meter start ramp (maximum UCI regulations) and 3.5 meter berms on the main turns.
There will be Beginner (green) Intermediate (blue) and Expert (black) Freeride and North Shore areas. This will allow you to grow your skills with confidence in the Beginner areas before deciding if you would like to get a second bike built for the job (which are cheap compared to a XC bike) and a full-face helmet to take on the Blue and Black areas.
The really silly Double Black Diamond areas of Logwood Bike Haven will be expanded. Ric and Robyn have already put together a sled that will be installed in the Dark Side (where else.hehehe), and there will be a "mezzanine" level of trails (the sky being the limit) that radiate out from the Dark Side like spokes from a hub.
The other normal XC routes in Logwood will start to incorporate more (you have probably already noticed them appearing) chicken runs around stuff that is not suitable for kids.
The RAPIDLY growing continent of kids and families that frequent Logwood Bike Haven (which shames the Northern Farm Contingent riding R60K XC thoroughbred race machines on dirt roads) need to be able to access more of the trails. Whilst Mum may never want to take on Sugar Bowl, sons (and some daughters too) want to go with Dad and see what's in there.
By the time that the Toyota MTN Cycle Park is open, Logwood will cater to families and lunatics specifically, but this doesn't mean that your favorite loop will be any less fun!
The Toyota MTN Cycle Park will be of a very different nature to Logwood Bike Haven; picture very fast flowing single track for the XC contingent, with some MONSTER switch-back climbs and descents on steep embankments that will make you short of breath just looking at them.
There is also much more gradient over the whole Park than Logwood, meaning there are longish climbs that make Heart Break Hill seem tame. The entire perimeter road will be two way, meaning you can take advantage of a couple of climbs, or turn them into scary downhill runs.
This is brilliant news especially in the light of the harassment of MTBers by the Sandtron Chronic

Does anyone know where there’s a mtn trail close to Rivonia/Fourways area that’s open during the week?
