Hi all,
I saw in the IBFE mesh database, forces F_0, F_1 and F_2 were stored. How should I interpret these forces? Are they forces that the immersed structure applies to the fluid, or reversely the hydrodynamic reaction force exerted by the fluid on the structure?
Thanks!

(Sorry for the slow response — this came in at the end of the semester here at UNC, and I missed it.)

These forces are volumetric forces that are generated by the structure. They show up in the right-hand-side of the common momentum equation that describes the momentum of the fluid-structure system. It is a little difficult to peel off the point wise forces that are applied by the structure to the fluid (or vice versa) because those are surface forces that this formulation does not separately compute or otherwise track.
