Dear Writing Friends,
Our first workshop at Pa’amon on July 30th was a huge success. We all felt like it was more of a retreat than a workshop, because for five hours we were totally focused on our writing, without any stimuli from the outside world, making Pa’amon a second best to Paros.
September’s offering In a Flash, with Miriam Mandel Levi, on September 3rd, will be a winner, because Miriam is an excellent thoughtful writer, an expert on Flash, and Pa’amon, with its warm ambience, will work its magic.
Hostess Inbal Ely, a former interior designer, has created Pa'amon as a place for intimate social and cultural events, centrally located in Tel Aviv and easily accessible by public transportation.
Meanwhile, you can follow me and my writing career on my Substack platform called Epistles from Israel at Judylabensohn.substack.com . I’ve been writing posts irregularly since October 2023 and joined Substack a year ago.
Recently, Daniel Gordis of Israel from the Inside interviewed me about my first book, which he loved, called Our Names Do Not Appear, a memoir.
He will interview me again in September about my second book, Bethlehem Road: stories of immigration and exile, available for pre-order at www.judylev.com
Both interviews will be on his podcast at DanielGordis.substack.com Don't yet know the dates.
I try to keep on truckin’ despite the chaos rage shame fear and grief, always thinking that if the hostages don’t come home, we are surely doomed.
Let's hope that holy compassion
will rain down upon the land from mid-Av.
Writing flash fiction and flash nonfiction will be a good way to get our voices heard.
