when i perform an audit, with photos attached as media, and then export as a word document, the images appear. However, when i come to print this document, the photos don't appear. similarly, if i pdf the word document from word (save as pdf) same problem

Also, when i perform the audit, it has an option in import media to take from the camera roll. If i'm doing an audit on a similar area, i may want to use an existing photograph, However, pictures taken in iauditor, don't seem to appear on the camera roll which would be a useful feature (you might want to use them in a document subsequent to the audit for example

any advice about how i resolve these issues?

many thanks guys, oh, and by the way, an superb app, well done!

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your questions, we are happy to help.

We are not aware of the printing issue with images, that may be a problem to do with word on your end. Nonetheless, we will see if we can reproduce it at this end. Can you send us the document to check also to sup...@safetyculture.com.au and we will have a look for you.

The camera roll option is a great suggestion, and will be included in the first major update due next month - 2.0. You will have a default option to copy all images to the camera roll.

If there is anything else we can help with, just let us know.

Regards,
SafetyCulture

I have a similar issue.  I just tried to export a test audit with photos in Word.  The photos did not display in the preview screen when Word export was selected and didn't show in the exported document.  The photos displayed in the PDF Export preview screen and subsequently displayed in the exported document.  File size of the Word export was 42kb whereas the PDF file size was 2mb.  File size of the CSV export was 6mb.  I am using Win7 and Office 2010. Any ideas what is going on?

Hi Peter,

When opening the Word document in Microsoft Word does it show any errors?

In the next update coming out soon there will be a fix for character encoding issues. In the current version if there's any irregular characters such as directional quotes ( such as ‟ and „) it will not export property.

Try starting a new audit with one of the inbuilt templates (e.g. General Workplace Inspection) and add the photos you are using to one of the questions. If it exports that audit correctly in Word format then it narrows it down to a template problem, otherwise the app might be having trouble with the photos you are adding to the report.

Regards,
Alan.

When I open the Word Document, where the photo goes, there is an error "This image cannot currently be displayed".  The same error is present for the photos I took and the company logo on the header page.  The exported file size is very small for a doc with three photos taken by the iPad.  I don't think the photos attached properly during the export preparation phase.  The photos were taken from the ADD MEDIA button attached to the standard YES/NO/NA buttons.  They weren't taken from a button set I introduced in my template.

Alan,
I tried the built-in template (General Workplace Inspection).  Took a couple of photos, added some text, taped DONE and went to the export from the main Audit List screen.  PDF showed photos in preview prior to export, Word did not show photos in preview prior to export and did not show in doc after export.

Hi Peter,

Would you be able to send the Word document to sup...@safetyculture.com.au as it will help us diagnose where it might be having trouble.

I have a suspicion that the company logo might be the cause of the problems. Turn off "Show logo on title page" in the export options and see if it exports the audit correctly.

You could also try tapping on the "Use default options" button at the top of the export screen to reset all of the export options to their defaults. If the saved options somehow became corrupted then this should fix it.

- Alan.

Yeah this happens to me too. Everything works great when exporting to PDF but none of the photos (or the logo on the first page) are theremin word export. I tried not exporting the logo and that didn't change anything. I do get an error message when I try to open it in word. Not a useful one it just says there is "an error with the contents do you want to try and recover". Or something like that. It then opens, after another message and the file is fine but all the pictures (and logo) have the red x in the box. As already mentioned I don't think it's word as the file is very very small before I even send it. 31k instead of 3meg in PDF.

We are very sorry that there are issues with the images. Our engineers are going to dedicate some time to resolve this issue.
We hope to have this resolved and update to the APP very soon.

Hi. I am having a similar problem. Audits export fine as PDF but if I export as word I just get a small word doc with blank boxes where the images should be. The images are taken directly with my iPad while doing the audit. I get no error messages just no pictures.
Other than that great app. Very useful.

Hi Donald,

Thanks for letting us know about this, we have fixed it and the update has been sent to Apple for approval. It is due to release by next Friday.

We have also setup a Beta Testing group now, so bugs such as this can be tested prior to the general release which will help us diagnose issues better during testing.

Thank you for your patience.

You could export the images as a CSV file and Word doc in the mean time and then manually insert them into the Word Doc.

Hi Safety Culture,

Im having the first issue. When i export the audit in a word or PDF doc and print it the photos wont come out. We had this issue before the upgarde and i was able to reset the settings pressing the reset button but now with the new upgrade 2.0 i cant see that option? I have tried sending without a logo, or thumbnails, changing the size of the photos but nothing makes a difference. When i open the word document an error comes up saying:

"The file __________ cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents"

When i click ok it then says:

Word found unreadable content in _____________. do you want to recover the contents of this document? if you trust the source of this document, click yes"

Once i click yes it opens like normal with all content and pictures.

This is happening on multiple iPads not just mine can you help?

Other than this problem the app is awesome great work :)

Hi AmelieT

We are aware of the issue with some versions of Word having an error when opening. This has been resolved in the update 2.0.3 which should be available for download in the next two to three days.

We will add the reset option back in, so you can reset your default settings. We can help you do this remotely once you have the 2.0.3 update. If you send an email to sup...@safetyculture.com.au once you have the update, we can send you a config file that will reset the settings for you.

Kind regards,

Luke
