Dear SIGDC,
Your co-chairs, Elizabeth Moss and Hailey Mooney, are working to put together a conference proposal for IASSIST 2013. We have decided on a theme of “Data citations: Linking literature to data and measuring impact” and are looking to gather a set of presentations. We have already identified some potential speakers to contact, but are interested in hearing from the group for any other suggestions. In particular, anyone close to the conference location or an IASSISTer already committed to traveling to Germany would be preferable, as we are not able to offer travel funds.
Please note that we have not yet contacted anyone, but we are hopeful to interest the following potential speakers:
· Sara Correa (Thompson Reuters) – Developing the Data Citation Index
· Katarina Boland and Brigitte Mathiak (GESIS) – Algorithms for identifying references to datasets in publications (see http://www.springerlink.com/content/px65848178541623/)
· Heather Piwowar or Jason Priem (Duke/NESCent) – Impact Story and altmetrics for tracking data reuse
We need any suggestions ASAP, by Tuesday Nov. 27, as we need to start contacting speakers and meet the Dec. 5th deadline for conference proposals.
Thank you,
Hailey Mooney
Elizabeth Moss

I know I’m really tardy in replying to this, but if it’s not too late and you’re still looking for ideas, I wonder about someone from the Netherlands Enhanced Publications group (they’ve spoken on this in the past, and I know it’s not the same thing, but I wonder how they’re tying in with these current initiatives): http://www.surf.nl/en/themas/openonderzoek/verrijktepublicaties/pages/default.aspx.
