Our April chapter meeting, "Approaching the Cloud," is sponsored by
IBM and features as our speaker, Steve Schaffer, Executive IT
Architect at IBM. Steve will cover three topics to support the
development of an architecture when approaching the cloud:
- Assessing the Cloud Workload and how to understand your solution
context's fit for purpose.
- A Cloud Computing Reference Architecture, including Consumer/
Provider perspectives (currently proposed for adoption by the Open
Group).
- Selected Business Use Cases and considerations for realizing them as
Cloud Designs for Deployment.

This is Steve's second time speaking with the NY Chapter of IASA.
Steve Schaffer, Executive IT Architect at IBM, is a Senior Software
Architect having 28 years experience with IBM. He has consulted with
large financial firms in the areas of relational database, distributed
database, Data Warehousing, Services Oriented Architecture, and
currently focused on Cloud Computing. He is Open Group Certified as a
Master Architect and Certified in DB2. He has authored five IBM User
Guides on Data Systems, Metadata, and Data Warehousing.
