Marco Neumann is the organizer of the Semantic Web meetup, a large and diverse group.  I had noted his name tag at the recent IASA World Summit - not picked up.

I followed up with him about his interest in IT architecture, and in an email today, he stated,

>>"I would like to see more discussion around the architecture aspects we can address with the
Semantic Web. "<<

BTW, last night's Semantic Web meetup was a joint meetup with another group, Hacks & Hackers.
Interesting energies, large crowd, technology folks and journalists. Joint meetings are one way to rapidly grow a group.

For those curious:

cheers,
Bernie

I am sure the gang at IASA corporate can put us in touch with them if not.

I like Alina’s suggestion to start with a problem definition.

I can get someone to cover the Microsoft tools. A while back we had the leader of the Rational users group present on ther tools. Anyone have a contact at Sparx?

As much as I would love to have this topic :-) I think that we should broaden it a bit to cover tools for architects in general, such as Sparx Enterprise Architect and Rational Software Architect as well as Visio.  Maybe a panel?

As a topic for a future meeting, how about use of Visio as a tool for IT Architects, with use cases.

Hi all,

This sounds like a great topic, Bernie, but I am not quite sure what Marco is looking for.  Does he mean web app/service/infrastructure architecture issues that Semantic Web could help with?  or improving Semantic Web architecture?

Maybe an architect in the group would be interested in creating a joint presentation with Marco or someone else from Semantic Web.  Any takers?

Cheers,

Alina

I'm presuming the former.  But I'll ask him to be sure.

Hi Bernie,

thank you for following up on the IASA World Summit. Bill Zack made me
aware of the event and I was interested in attending the Friday
afternoon sessions on ORM. Unfortunately something came up in the last
minute that prevented me from making it over to the conference
location.

To your question whether there are web app/service/infrastructure
architecture issues that Semantic Web could help with or if the
Semantic Web can help to improve architecture? I am positive on both
question I am sure that Semantic Web practitioners can and have to
learn more from established practice in industry and that the
technology can be layered better into existing infrastructure. But
also that the Semantic Web can help to innovate business computing by
introducing new modeling concepts and tackling business use-case
scenarios with Ontology Design and Engineering, Semantics for
Enterprise Data, Knowledge Engineering and Management and Business
Applications etc

Best,
Marco
