Abstract:
SOA promises a closer alignment of business and IT objectives leading
to greater customer responsiveness, business agility and operational
efficiency. However, achieving this alignment requires organizations to
embrace the changes inherent in the dynamic nature of SOA. With those
changes come the inevitable risks. Risk can be managed by implementing
a robust SOA quality assurance plan. While testing concepts such as
test coverage and automation can still be effectively applied in a SOA
environment, the process-oriented nature of SOA presents unique
challenges. Traditional testing tools often fail to adequately address
end-to-end scenarios and lack visibility within a technically complex
SOA environment. To manage SOA quality, new techniques and practices
must be developed to address the inherent factors of constant change
and complexity.
