Many of you must have been disturbed by the non-delivery of my earlier email. There was a sudden drop in internet connectivity for some reason. At last my PA of the university helped me reconnect. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I am delighted to announce that the 11th Australian Studies international conference will be held on 01-02 February, 2024 at Astor Hotel conference rooms. The theme of the conference is: History, Culture and Democracy: Changing Voices in Australia and India. It is organised in collaboration with the Centre for Studies in Australian Literature, Culture, Politics and Technology (CSALCPT) , Swami Vivekananda University, Australian Studies Institute, Australian National University, Australian Consulate General Kolkata, Australian Trade & Investment Commission, Bengaluru and Routledge. Please find attached the concept note of the conference.
Please also note the announcement of IASA, Eastern Region Australian Travel Fellowship and send your proposal by the deadline mentioned therein.
A couple of Australian Professors have already confirmed their participation in the conference. We received a confirmation of participation from a renowned scholar of the Menzies Centre of Australian Studies, London. Most interestingly, we received confirmations from a contingent of Chinese scholars from across China. The conference will be inaugurated by Ms Rowan Ainsworth, the Consul General of Australian Consulate, Kolkata.
Please don't forget to send your abstracts by the deadline.
In the meantime, IASA, Eastern Region already organised workshops on Australian Studies for two Kolkata colleges. The 2nd workshop was organised by the Australian Consulate at British Club within the premises of the Consulate. Jatisankar, Sourav, Anandarup and Sibendu did a marvellous job. I was enchanted by their splendid expertise. After the Puja vacation, we shall continue the workshops and we shall go back to many of you for your specialised expertise. Some of the photos are attached herewith. We hope you will like them.
