I am delighted to
announce that the 12th Australian Studies international conference will
be held on 28-29 January, 2025 at Astor Hotel conference rooms.
The theme of the conference is: Travel, Migration,
Citizenship: Re-imagining the Postnation in Australia and India. It is
organised in collaboration with the Centre for Studies in Australian Literature,
Culture, Politics and Technology (CSALCPT) , Swami Vivekananda
University, Australian Studies Institute, Australian National
University, Australian Consulate General Kolkata, Australian Trade
& Investment Commission, Bengaluru and Routledge. Please find attached the
concept note of the conference. The 2nd phase of the
conference will be held at CSALCPT, Swami Vivekananda University on 31 January and
1 February, 2025. The theme of the conference is: Transactions: History, Culture
and Identity in Australia and India.
Please also note the announcement of IASA, Eastern Region Australian Travel Fellowship and send your proposal by the deadline mentioned therein.
A couple of Australian Professors have already confirmed their participation in the conference. We received a confirmation of participation from as many as five renowned Australian Professors The conference will be inaugurated by Mr Hugh Boylan. , the Hon’ble Consul General of Australian Consulate, Kolkata. Moreover the Minister Counsellor Ms Carly Partridge who attended a programme at the Centre for Australian Studies at Swami Vivekananda University has given her consent to attend the conferences.

In the meantime, IASA, Eastern Region already organised several workshops on Australian Studies in different colleges. Moreover, Swami Vivekananda University has launched Certificate Courses and PhD programmes.
It is also encouraging to inform you that the Deputy Director of the Centre for Australian Studies of Swami Vivekananda University, Dr Rituparna Chakraborty, received grants for visiting Australian universities in connection with her project on “Death, Disease and Sexuality: Women Convicts in Australia”.
All this was made possible through the sincere efforts of Jatisankar, Sourav, Anandarup and Sibendu . They did a marvellous job. I was enchanted by their splendid expertise.
