'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: 'A'isha a family which has no dates (in their house) its members will be hungry; (or) 'A'isha the family which
has no dates its members may be hungry. He said this twice or thrice.
(Sahih Muslim 2046b, Book 36, Hadith 211)
Dates are nutritiously dense and provide so much energy. When fasting, the satisfaction of biting into a sweet date is rewarding and refreshing.
