Dear all,

Tonite we had a frustrating and hilarious attempt at a larger Google Hangout to discuss IAPOP-Europe matters. This was a serious attempt to use the depth of technology available to us, only it didn't quite work and the exercise had to be abandoned. Fortunately there was considerable good humour and even appreciation of the attempts that everyone made to get into the system :)

I learned two things: 1) That IAPOPers can't use Hangout until they have fully signed in with their iapop.com account, and also you must setup your Google + Profile. Google + is what makes hangouts possible. This was the big stumbling block! ... and...
2)How important it is that people take an opportunity to hangout with other and get to know and use the facilities before attending a SERIOUS meeting.
.... also......
3) :) If you sign into your account with an age of under 13 years of age, you will be automatically suspended from the entire system, until an adminstrator confirms your age. Very CR I realise, for a processworker... but worth noting :)

For anyone who now has an account, I highly recommend getting together with one or two other IAPOPers and going into the system and learning how things work.

I have setup a directory within the contacts area, so everyone in IAPOP will be able to find everyone else within IAPOP by their iapop.com address.

Dear folks,

I realise i/we have been silent for a long time on this discussion forum around online learning and collabration.

Just recently Google Apps for Education released Google Classroom. And I have just started to experiment with it. It makes a very easy and free platform for schools to setup classrooms, assignments, marking online, commenting, talking to the whole class, having different classes, including youtube videos and links to other sites etc..

I just created a little classrrom and assignment as an example if you want to try signing in as a student and putting in this code below. It's important to sign in with the firstname...@iapop.com email i gave you last year to be able to access classrooms. I.e. you need to be within the IAPOP apps for educationenvironment. I think this link should get you there. Use Google Chrome as a browser if possible. https://classroom.google.com/u/0/ineligible?hl=en. Make sure you are signed in with yourfirstname...@iapop.com at the top right of the page.

If you sign in as a student you should get asked to add this Classroom and assignment code

Good luck for those who try. If you are successful with the assignment, then why not sign in as a teacher and create your own assignment. Tip - OPen a Google Doc in Google Drive. Write your assignment on that, and then search for that document from within your assignment... Takes a little learning, but dead simple once you've done it.
