I've been asked to recommend a good Wednesday-night children's
program. Unfortunately, although our church has tried a number of
different programs over the last few years, we have yet to find one
that we've felt truly comfortable and confident about. Does anyone
have any ideas?

Have you looked at the AWANA program?

Awana is probably the best kids program there is. And in fact, our
church very nearly did go with it last year. However, there were two
hitches that we encountered with it. First, the entry costs are very
high. While much of these costs could be recouped by charging the kids
dues or something, the church would still be responsible for the up-
front costs. And second, probably more important, the program is
extremely volunteer intensive, which can be a problem for a small
church. Again, not to discount Awana - it is, as I said, the best
program out there that I've ever seen - but those are the cons that we
found.
