You are invited to participate in an online, round-table discussion of church planting that we're going to hold in the IA-MN District's Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel. The discussion will be held Thursday, 19 March, at 9:00 am CDT. The discussion will start with the question, "What challenges do you see planting churches in your context?", and it will flow from there. We're aiming to have a number of pastors, church planters, potential church planters, and even a person or two from the Department of Evangelism and Church Growth on hand to participate in the discussion.
If you've never heard of IRC before, it's basically a text-based internet chat room that can connect two, ten, or even hundreds of people via the internet. All you have to do to participate is type your thoughts and comments in a blank and hit enter; everyone will see what you have to say. It's kind of like instant messaging, with a whole bunch of people participating in the conversation at once.
If you want to join the conversation, or even just check out our IRC channel, you have a number of options. We've outlined most of them on our Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/iamndistrict/browse_thread/thread/9f9f36d27bb2160f ), but the easiest way is just to click the link below. You'll see a message about connecting to the chat server; then enter a nickname (i.e., the name you want others to see when you post), and click the button to join the room!

hours remaining before the start of our online church planting round
table in the IA-MN district's IRC channel, I wanted to take a moment
to remind you once again of the discussion. If you haven't already
done so, make plans to be at the computer at 9:00 am CDT on Thursday,

, enter an appropriate nickname in the space provided, and click on
the button to join the chat.
If you already have an IRC client, you can join the conversation
simply by joining the server irc.freenode.net, channel #iamndistrict
And in case you forgot, our conversation starter is simply this: "What
will make sure that the transcript of the chat gets posted to the IA-
MN District website as well. Look for a link in the News box on the
right-hand side of the page!
