I am pleased to announce an open PhD position within a DFG-funded (German Research Foundation) project, focusing on the complex dynamics of the air-water interface in highly turbulent flows.
Project Start: 01 August 2026
Funding: Full scholarship/position (DFG, 100 %, 3 years)
Core Research: The project centers on the simultaneous application of Volumetric Particle-Tracking-Velocimetry (4D-PTV) to both the water and air phases across various flow regimes.
What I am looking for:
- A strong academic background in fluid mechanics and multiphase flows.
- Hands-on experience in experimental fluid dynamics (preferably optical measurement techniques).
- Prior knowledge in hydraulic engineering or the design of hydraulic structures is highly desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity to work at the cutting edge of experimental hydraulics within a well-funded research environment.
Please find further details regarding the application process in the attached PDF. For initial inquiries, feel free to reply directly to this email.
