IAHR Young Professionals: Be part of the new IAHR Council!

View this email in your browser   Call to IAHR Young Professionals to be part of the IAHR Council 2023-2025 In recognition of the critical importance of early-career engineers and scientists to the future of IAHR, the latest constitution and by-laws (voted at the 2019 General Members Assembly in Panama) include that one YPN member from each Regional Division will be invited to participate in the Council. The YPN representative from each Regional Division will become a full voting member of the Council.  In 2021 the first four young professionals regional representatives were elected and became part of the council for the cycle 2021-2023. During this time they have been invited to take part in the council meetings, regional divisions leadership teams and task force for young professionals development, acting as the voice of the regional young professionals networks, but also helping to organise the programmes of activities for young professionals at the different World and Regional congresses, as well as the Young Professionals Congress and others.  IAHR Council Members YPN Regional Representatives 2021-2023 For Africa: Wada Patella For Asia Pacific: Qian Yu For Europe: Daniel Valero For Latin America: Maria Gabriela Castrellón We now open a call to IAHR Young Professionals to be part of the IAHR Council 2023-2025 for the Latin America regions. The text below summarises the general rules and process.  Rules The YPN member will become part of the Council for the next two-year cycle. The YPN member will be responsible for reporting back to the YPNs in their region.  The YPN member will become part of the Leadership Team of the Regional Division.  The YPN member will become part of the Task Force for Young Professionals Development. The YPN member will be invited/expected to attend and participate in the annual Council meetings.  Candidate requirements Open to all IAHR YP members.  Candidates need to submit a CV and a motivation letter before 20 September 2023.  Candidates need to be up to date with their membership fees.  Process The Regional Divisions will do an initial screening of the applications they receive and prepare a slate of candidates.  A ballot will be open for all young professionals to vote for their preferred candidate in their region.  The candidates will be announced by the end of October 2023. The elected candidates will join the Council on 1 November 2023. Key dates Call for candidates will be open until 20 September 2023.
