China successfully launched two Beidou-2 Navigation Satellites to their desired transfer orbits to expand its Beidou Navigation System that will provide regional coverage for China and neighbouring countries by the end of this year. A Long March 3B Launch Vehicle lifted off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre at 19:10 UTC on Tuesday 18 September carrying the Compass M5 and M6 Satellites to their targeted transfer orbit with both satellites entering service once achieving a circular orbit of 12 hours at an inclination of 55 degrees.
A delegation of Nicaraguan experts will soon travel to China to move this $300 million project forward, which could lead to the satellite being manufactured as early as the beginning of 2013.

"The decision has been made to recall and thoroughly examine the entire batch of Briz-M upper stages," Popovkin told journalists. "Each upper stage will be dismantled."
