Amazon deforestation jumps in August

Satellite imagery released by the Brazil’s National Space Research Institute (INPE) reveals a sharp jump in deforestation during the month of August.

Florida wants NASA land for commercial spaceport

With an eye toward developing a commercial spaceport, Florida has asked NASA to transfer 150 acres of land north of the shuttle launch pads and the shuttle runway to Space Florida, the state�s aerospace development agency.

Europe eyes expanded data-relay service

European governments will be asked in November to invest 200 million euros ($250 million) in partnership with Astrium Services in a third data-relay node in geostationary orbit for a global service relaying Earth observation satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data to civil and military users, according to European government and industry officials.
