Hello All,

Here at PAX were in the midst of scrambling to get our systems updated to Windows 10 Enterprise. In preperation for doing so I've purchased new hardware for our video server PC (Dell R7910 workstations) and new capture cards to go along with those(Osprey 460e).

Our previous video capture cards (Winnov Videum 4000 Xpress) were some of the original models Winnov created and are not compatible with Windows 10.

Years ago when we originally set all this up it was mentioned to me that any capture device that could be used by directx/directplay "should" be compatible with the video server. That has held pretty true in the past; for example, I've taken systems aboard ship with a laptop as our video server with usb capture devices and had no issues to speak of.

Now that I've got the R7910's in hand I've had the time to do some testing/troubleshooting with the new setup. I'm getting a couple errors that I'll type out here but let me explain what I can do first.

With no audio source enabled I am able to capture and broadcast video, and preview the video(this didn't work at first, not sure why or how it started working).

I am able to use VLC to select the Capture Device and record/broadcast video and audio with the cards audio input(not to IADS obviously, just testing).

The errors I'm recieving are:

1) Upon initial launch of the application I'm getting an error popup titled: "Error", Error Text followed by Warning Triangle: "ERROR during capture, error code=80070001"

The previous error occurs whether I have selected audio or not.

2) When audio device from the Osprey card is selected and I attempt to either broadcast or record and broadcast I'm getting an error popup titled: "Error", Error text followed by warning triangle: "Cannot render audio capture stream"

I've tested this with IADS 8.1 update 8, and the just received IADS 9.2 IS2016.

If you guys end up needing me to ship cards or even a whole system I'm using to test, I'm willing to do so.

Thanks and V/r,

Byron

Hi Byron,

Unfortunately, we don’t have any experience with the Osprey cards. You very well may have to ship one to us so we can debug. Before that step, let’s see if we can do some remote debugging.

The first thing to try is updating the drivers for the card. Many times when you buy a card, the drivers included are a year or more old. Try going to the manufacturer’s web site and download/install the latest drivers.

If that doesn’t help, try examining the audio input property dialogs. See if there’s a setting for audio type. It’s just a guess, but perhaps the card allows you to acquire compressed audio (mp3/mp4 etc).  Look for an uncompressed option such as PCM or raw. As in video, the audio acquisition source should be uncompressed.

Byron,

Did you fix your problems with the Osprey card?

Has anyone else successfully used a different card with IADS Video Server?  How about the Osprey USB video capture device?

No, I've been overwhelmed with other tasking in the last months(hard to believe this was from Nov '17). I was just telling someone that I need to assign this to another person on my team.

We ended up loading Windows server 2008 on our older hardware to avert the windows 10 upgrade(old hardware won't support W10).
