Hello,

Is there a place where I can download the "IADS UDP Custom Derived Function" of which I can download the helper documentation attached?

I remember I used to be able to download it from Symvionics website, if I'm not wrong. It seems to be updated, hence is it still provided by Curtiss Wright IADS?

Best regards,
Can

This DLL is now included in all IADS installations and is already preregistered.

The file is deployed to <Program Files>\IADS\Common\ folder for each bit size installed on your system.  If you see the file there, you already have it.

If you do not, I’ll dig into the history to see what version it became a standard item.

Regards,

Mike

Can,
The IadsUDP.dll is part of the IADS installation now and should already be installed and registered on any system with IADS installed.
Please note that this function is intended to be used as a general purpose UDP reader and not as a primary method of consuming and processing data within IADS.

  • The IadsUDP.Read function is not guaranteed to receive every packet. There is no notification to the user that a packet was not received.
  • Large UDP packets could get fragmented on the network.

If you require consistent guaranteed packet delivery and data of more than just a handful or so of parameters then it is best to use one of our Data Interfaces and treat the data as any other Data Source Type. Please contact me directly with detailed description of your use case (along with your existing IADS system layout), and I will provide directions on how to best integrate your data with IADS.

Thank you,

Hello Michael and Adam,

Well that's great news. We have an old version, still using version 8.xx something. But we received a quotation and answers to some of our technical questions. So the latest version is about to be purchased.

What we need to do is, in addition to the telemetry sources, we have additional sources for position information like a telemetry from a moving target to a weapon in test, some tracking radars providing us 3rd party position info, in case our navigation fails, some tactical data links etc. We want these positions as seperate targets in the moving map, adding some symbology with the overlays, and so on. It's some kind of a tactical monitor application. So missing a packet every once in a while is OK. Our 3rd party position info in UDP is generally 50 Hz or 100Hz, so it's not really a fast ethernet link. But I need to make sure that I receive packages consistently and reliably.

If you say that I might miss some chunks of packets for long durations, I guess I have to write my own custom function, if there is not anything else you recommend.

Best regards,
Can
