We presently have a GSX-500 license that will not show video during realtime acquistion. If workstation is shut down and GSplayback client is used on the same PFCONFIG file  the video is present and does play with correct time stamping. Transferring the PFCONFIG and Xidml file to a second license and initiating GSworks, then provides real time and playback capablitiy. Any suggestions??

Please zip up and send a copy of the Logs directory found in the data directory to iadssuppirt (at) Symvionics.com.
If it’s working in real time on one machine and not another then  you may need to verify the version of ffdshow installed.

Thank you,

Another thing to consider is that if it’s a Windows 7 system that the user needs to be at least a power user or run IADS As administrator. After additional thought we suspect this is what is causing the video not to display in real time.

This is the problem I know. I am also having trouble programming KAM-500 software. With anything else than an administrators privilege. Thanks a bunch

G'day Wade,

What sort of errors are you seeing when you try to program the KAM-500 chassis ? Are you using SAMDEC or Ethernet for programming ?

When your guys installed kWorkbench to the Windows 7 machine, did they follow the installation readme explicitly ?

If you haven't already, don't forget to flick ACRA support an email with the problems you are seeing. They have always been helpful when I have been having trouble.

Regards,
Pete

I just get a conduit error. I know its related to the windows 7 performance user issue, when logged in as an administrator the problem goes away.

is the Win7 machine a new installation, or has it been upgraded from previous versions of kWorkbench ?

Try stepping through the install FAQ

Not sure about kWorkbench on 64 bit machines. I know the SAMDEC does not have 64 bit drivers available.

The big gotcha we found was you really do need to uninstall any previous versions to achieve a reliable installation.

Pete

Sorry missed the bottom half of the question please excuse, I'm communicating from a black berry. Yes the instructions were followed as they were written. A lot of my troubles start and end with virus protection and security protocols associated with how the lap tops are being controlled. Power user privileges won't let me control the Ethernet port to the level needed to   program ACRA. Administrator allows me to set the static port IP address. If DHCP is selected, we can't talk to the chassis.

Yes we are Ethernet. So no SAMDEC requirements.

G'day Wade,

I FULLY appreciate the headaches of draconian IT policy getting in the way.

After some huge headaches and arguments, I now use a Toughbook as my development environment primarily so i have complete control over who messes with it. I have always used an account with Admin rights, no antivirus rubbish and a SAMDEC. My practical experience probably isn't going to be much help.

DHCP: What machine is playing the DHCP server role? Is your dev machine staying on the same subnet as the KAM-500 ?

It does if I force it out of DHCP role. Which you obviously need admin rights for. The video issue surfaced this week because its the first attempt at embedding video with our tough books. Which we have been forced to comply with IT, and security protocols. This is the first time we have not been allowed to remain off domain with engineering resources

Can you move your KAM-500 to the same subnet that your DHCP assigns ?

Somewhere, somebody has to give a little in the IT department. They either give your laptop a static, or they allow the KAM-500 to have a static IP on your DHCP network. With ACRA hardware being a 'State' machine I don't think it will ever support DHCP (nor, should it)

We have a couple of standalone networks to allow for inflexible systems. In our case we went around in circles with IT until we threw up our hands and said 'You (IT) make it work, or give us our network back' Oh, and the Chief Engineer want's to know why we can't give him the flight test data he needs. I know this isn't helping you fix your problem, but flight test equipment has absolutely no place being connected to a corporate LAN.

But to get back on track, you are having video issues during real-time, but only on one machine (Win7). What O/S is the functional machine running ? Same versions / patch of GSWoks ?

You have a separate issue where a KAM-500 won't program properly over Ethernet. Again, Win7 machine on the corporate network? Do you have another machine running the same kWorkbench version that does work?

No that option is not available to me.
