Hello State Execs,
I hope all of you are doing good, signing new members, renewing a few, and continuing to work hard to provide exceptional value to your dealers and associate members in your market!
For those of you that haven’t heard through the grapevine yet, and after some serious consideration and plenty of soul searching, I finished my work with the Georgia IADA at the end of July and have accepted a new position at the NIADA, beginning August 1.
Amy Bennet, my longtime colleague of 14 years, and who was my right hand, has assumed the Georgia Executive Director position, and she is excited to get to know everybody better. Amy will be an asset to the entire group.
Working for the GIADA for the last 16 ½ years has been the highlight of my life, and allowed me the rare opportunity to build and grow an association, in my own way, that has never reached its full potential in its 62 years of existence.
Since 2002, GIADA has tripled its membership numbers to just shy of 3000. Creating a fully funded Government Affairs Team in 2007 has provided Georgia used car dealers countless wins at the state Capital. This association has obtained numerous lucrative contracts with the State of Georgia and other third party companies creating substantial reoccurring revenue. GIADA created its pre-license and continuing education programs from the ground up of which include digital. Fast forward to today, GIADA’s current net worth is just north of $3 million in assets, with an annual budget of $2.3 million in revenue.
I feel very confident that I can take many of the lessons that I have learned and applied over the years, and use those to help other states fix a few problems that appear to be holding them back. It’s all about membership. And figuring out how to clear a path for growth.
Together, we will both look closely at the MarketZone Gold Data comparing the current markets penetration ratios for each state. This is the information we all receive monthly from Tiana. It tracks a lot of metrics that provide benchmarks, and compares each state membership activity.
I will be working closely with each state director to analyze your market conditions and together we will determine your potential growth opportunity, set some goals and get it done. Looks like everybody can take on more members. So, start thinking now about where you want to take your state membership to.
Let’s all start thinking about 20,000 in 2020! It can be done.
And before I close, did anybody notice who just jumped into second place by just a few members?? Way to go John Brown from the Carolinas!!
Respectfully,
Paul R John

Paul,
Welcome to Team NIADA!! Although it feels like a different position on the same team, NIADA is thrilled to invest in the ongoing, collaborative, working relationship we have with our state associations -- as valued partners -- by investing in you and your experience.
This is a national position whose time has come and I am looking forward system wide organizational growth and seeing our association reach its full potential…both nationally and locally.
State Executives, please join me in welcoming Paul to his new role and please anticipate his call to help him better understand how we can assist and support you and your operations moving forward.
We are all better together and I am looking forward to many new successes.
At your service,
Steve

I know Paul will do an outstanding job. Working under him for 14 years, I have learned he can achieve anything he puts his mind to. He has pushed me to heights I never thought I could reach. He’s a brilliant man and I know I have big shoes to fill here at GIADA.
We did however over the years have issues we did not agree on and had some heated arguments. If you ever have that problem with him and he really makes you mad…I have a voodoo doll with his name on it so call me!
