Deal Pack has a number of state association logos on their partners page. Partners - Deal Pack

I just talked to a rep with them and my understanding is it isn't a partnership relationship, they are members and give a referral spif for referring dealers to them. 

Does anyone have anything more than that with them?

I digress…she did send in an application to join IADAC.  I just haven’t processed it yet because I want to understand more of what they do.  I haven’t carved out time to call her yet.  Maybe their strategy was to  run through and join all the State Associations that they were not yet a part of.

I will most like connect with her next week to learn more about what they do.

Deal Pack is a new member with us. The rep, Natalie, said they have just opened an official sales department so are trying to join and network with all of the state associations to increase their visibility with dealers. The referral program that was referenced is $250 per new dealer after 90 days, $1000 if they have 10+ users. I understand that in addition to their current DMS, they have a new one that is close to completion that will be geared towards smaller/cost conscious dealers. I have dealt with them extensively outside of the association and they are a stand-up organization, I'm happy to have them on as a member.

Oregon has 8 hour class requirement for Pre-license and 12 hours of continued education every 3 years with dealer license renewal.  We have live classes and online class, we also give CE hours for attending our conference, which has6 speaker slots and the dealers are required to answer 10 questions per speaker to earn 6 credits.

Another question that has come up is, in relation to who has to be trained, we defined it as “the dealer”, but what about in an LLC with multiple partners? How do you all define who has to be trained?

Colorado only requires the dealer to take the required pre-licensing class.

 

In Colorado the state requires everyone who presents to the consumer information regarding the purchase of a vehicle to be licensed and bonded. Everyone must receive a 85% on the required test to receive their license. This covers owners, finance directors/contractors and salespeople. Many dealers send their new people to our class since they are ultimately liable if the salesperson commits a violation. When multiple owners are involved only those in contact with the consumer must be licensed.

In Oregon it has to be one of the listed names on the dealer license. 

We have a number of non profit dealerships, like a Goodwill or St Vincent DePaul who have a board member take the test for the license, they have nothing to do with the day to day business of the dealership and 3 years later when it is time to renew they are no longer on the board of the non profit.   We try to educate the non profits to place additional names to the license such as the CEO of the non profit to prevent any delay.

LLC’s are required to list all principals on the dealer license. One person named on the license must show prof they have taken the education course.
