High School Athletics Announcement

Dear High School New & Returning IACS Families,
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Innovation Academy! We would like to update you on athletics here at IACS. We are excited to welcome David Maier as our new Assistant Athletic Director! Since Dave has accepted this position, he has decided to step down from coaching to best meet the demands of this new endeavor. We are also excited to announce our Administrative Assistant, Kathleen Campbell. You may recognize Kathleen as last year’s Middle School assistant soccer coach, High School and Middle School’s assistant cheerleading coach, and The Dance Team’s assistant coach.
We’d like all families to be aware of the sports for High School that are being offered for the upcoming Fall athletic season and their start dates:
* Boys Soccer: Thursday, August 22, 2013 (look to website for more details)
* Girls Soccer: Thursday, August 22, 2013 (look to website for more details)
* Co-ed Cross Country: Monday, August 26, 2013 (look to website for more details)
***All High School practice times and dates will be posted on the athletics website no later than Friday, August 23rd***
We will be conducting an all school fall sports information session on Tuesday, September 3rd, at 6PM in the IACS Auditorium. This information session is mandatory for all parents/guardians of any athlete playing sports in the fall season.
Most of the sign up for High School students is now done through Family ID. There is a link to this site on the high school athletics page. In addition, we also have a new Athletic Handbook which you will need to read through and sign off that you have done so on Family ID. A copy of an updated physical, payment, and any other athletic forms that you need to pass in (all paperwork not covered in Family ID) must be submitted one of the following ways:
1) If you are mailing your paper work, please mail it to the following address:

2) You may pass in paperwork at the Athletic Kiosk during the Ice Cream Social
3) You may pass in paperwork at the front office clearly labeled Athletic Department
BE SURE TO PASS IN ALL OF YOUR CHILD’S PAPERWORK ONTIME! Please understand that if your paperwork is passed in late, there is no guarantee that your paperwork will be processed in time for your student to participate in a Fall sport. All paperwork must be turned in before a child actively participates in try-outs or practice.
As mentioned earlier, to assist families with paperwork, we are having an athletics kiosk available during the ice cream social. This kiosk is being held to assist with questions, concerns, and to turn in paperwork.
For those who are in need of financial aid, there will be a form available on the athletics website no later than Wednesday, August 21. Please make sure you fill out this form completely and hand it in with the rest of your paperwork.

As the athletic department grows, please keep in mind that we are always looking for used athletic equipment that is no longer in use at your home. If you are unsure about something that you want to donate, you can e-mail the above address.
On a larger scale, the athletic department is looking to get a used golf cart/gator to be used to transport items from the athletic office to the track and field, such as water, medical equipment and other supplies, as well as to assist students that are injured in getting to the Athletic Trainer’s Office.
As always, we try to keep athletic fees down, so we are looking for a low cost way to acquire this item. If you have any information or know someone that can help us with this endeavor, please email the above address.
*All high schoolers attending tryouts must bring running shoes, as well as cleats and shin guards to all sessions. Please also bring full water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
